It is the responsibility of everyone to take action in addressing the challenges of climate change, as professionals we must also seek ways that the digital sector can play its part. While digital technologies are one of the sectors that has achieved greater efficiency; achieving about 100 times more computation power from the same amount of energy per decade, it remains unsustainable. The sector must continue to seek ways in which it can continue to support and drive innovation, while addressing the global climate emergency for a greener and fairer future. This unit will enable students to explore the impact of digital endpoint devices and ways to reduce environmental damages, OR the potential of refurbishing, repairing and reusing digital devices ratherthan replacing Tasks As a member of Research and Development department, you have been assigned a mini-project to find out the impact of digital endpoint devices and ways to reduce environmental damages, OR the potentialof refurbishing, repairing and reusing digital devices rather than replacing. You need to do primary research (both qualitative and quantitative research) and secondary research to find out that impact and conduct a report for your research. Even it’s a mini-project, you must apply project management (PM) techniques such as project charter with aims, objectives, cost etc. As for time management, you need to produce WBS and Gantt chart with reasonable tasks and time. A project logbook is required to provide evidence of the project development process and ongoing reflection for every week. This logbook will be needed later for your reflection and evaluation in Assignment 2. As part of QA (quality assurance) policy, in the report you also need to critically evaluate the PM process and appropriate research methodologies applied. Your report must have an introduction stating the project aims and objectives. This must be followed bya copy of your project management plan. Your plan should show the milestones when you will review with your tutor your ongoing progress so far. You will submit your logbook which shows how you have carried out the project. The environment has a significant impact on many people's lives; we must pay greater attention to the environment in order to decrease the harm that humans contribute to the ecosystem. The expanding usage of digital technologies in today's 4.0 technology era can assist minimize resource extraction and address the global climate emergency for a cleaner future. Paper is still widely used by students across the world to take notes. The use of paper to capture and preserve information generates a lot of trash, and the process of felling trees to gather wood occurs every day to create paper. This has an impact on the ecology, as paper manufacture emits CO2, which pollutes the air. As a result, we must devise a solution to assist minimize pollution and enable people to live greener and cleaner lives. As a member of the R&D department, I will initiate a project to assist users in reducing the usage of paper for notes in order to prevent environmental pollution. This initiative of mine tries to eliminate the usage of paper notes by students today by using notes on computers or phones. In this project, I will do research and compare taking notes on a computer or phone with paper. II/ Project initialization 1. Main aim of the project The major goal of this initiative is to utilize computers or phones to take notes instead of paper. Another key aim is to research and evaluate the advantages of taking notes on a computer or phone vs paper. This project also prioritizes environmental concerns. My initiative is to install and examine them within two weeks. 2. List of Objectives to achieve the aim • Minimize environmental pollution: Using electronic devices to take notes allows students to use less paper, which helps to reduce the amount of garbage created each day. At the same time, it helps to decrease the loss of wood and paper manufacturing, lowering the quantity of CO2 emitted into the environment on a daily basis and assisting in the reduction of air pollution. 10 • User survey: Ask survey participants about the advantages of taking notes on electronic devices rather than paper. From there, you may research and weigh the benefits and drawbacks of taking notes on technological devices. • Summary and re-evaluation after two weeks of study: Following two weeks of implementation and research, I will summarize and appraise the benefits of taking notes on electronic devices in general. At the same time, I discuss the disadvantages of taking notes on technological devices. III/ Project Management Plan 1. Scope The scope of this project includes internet research, survey questionnaire design, project cost and time management. Simultaneously, poll students on their usage of electronic devices to take notes so that they may be researched further and applied to students' learning. 2. WBS Figure 1. WBS 11 I'll utilize a work breakdown structure (WBS) to divide the job into several distinct tasks. Breaking down the project into tasks allows me to better manage and work with the project's workflow. The WBS diagram shown above includes: • Planning: In this section, I will outline how I want to spend my time studying and learning. • Survey: I will construct a questionnaire to poll students about utilizing electronic devices to take notes rather than paper. After the survey is over, I will take the time to collect the responses gathered. • Primary Research: I will choose replies from the above-mentioned survey procedure and then analyze the whole process of surveying students. 3. Task Plan A task plan will help me create a plan of tasks that need to be completed. It helps me manage tasks and track daily work progress more easily. Name Description Duration Planning Create a to-do list, scope, time, risk, and resources 3 days Survey Create questionnaires to survey students for more information about using taking note with technology devices 5 days Select Select the answers of students in the survey in the above 5 days 2 days Evaluation Evaluate lessons learned by synthesizing responses during the survey 4 days 4. Time I have 2 weeks for my project after calculating the task plan time above. I will split my time correctly with the prescribed activities because surveying and studying students' responses takes time. As a result, in order to accomplish the project research on time, you should develop a sensible strategy. This is a Gantt Chart that shows the progress of my project over time. - Gantt Chart: 14 University of Greenwich students. - Survey Question: ID Question Description 1 Is it more convenient to use a computer to take notes than paper?
