Five arts that may be combined with music include a) dance, b) architecture, c) films, d) poetry and e) paintings. 2. The advantages of staff notation are that the musician is given the quickest and easiest way to express the musical notation. The disadvantage of staff notation is that it is complicated to learn because there are hundreds of symbols that may need to be learned. The advantage of tablature notation is that it is directly able to connect the physical aspects of how to play the instrument to what needs to be played. The disadvantages of tablature notation is that it is difficult to express complicated pieces of music as the notation will go in-depth on how to play it. Therefore, tablature notation is excellent for beginners who are trying to grasp the basic concepts on how to play their instruments. The advantage of cipher notation is that since numbers are universal it is easier for those people who can’t read staff notation. The disadvantage of the cipher notation is that it rare except in certain types of ethnic music such as music from the Japanese Meiji period. 3. I do not believe that music is an invention of humanity but rather a mockery of nature that has been transformed into an art form. Early primitive humans experienced nature for thousands of years and probably enjoyed the songs of the birds, the roaring waterfalls, the crashing waves and the thousands of other natural elements they discovered. They must have enjoyed these sounds and therefore set out to imitate them. In doing so, they invented instruments and vocals to create music. Over time, music became more and more complex as humanity sought to explore topics other than nature such as religion, and spirituality. In the modern age, musical topics range everywhere from basic subjects such as ones mood to more complicated subjects such as political change. Even so, this all stemmed from a mockery of natural music and therefore music is not an invention of humanity.
