GEORGIA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY School of Electrical and Computer Engineering ECE 6606 Coding Theory HWK #6, Due: Friday, July 17 Problem 1-3: Solve questions 4,7,10 from Chapter 11 (Convolutional codes) of the text- book. Problem 3: Repeat Example 3 from Chapter 9 (at page 213) of the textbook using Euclid’s decoding algorithm. Problem 4: Let F = GF (8), containing a primitive root α satisfying α3 = α + 1, and let V = [0, 0, α3, 0, 0, α2, 0]. (a) Compute V̂ , σ(x) and ω(x). (b) Use Corollary 1 to ”recover” V from σ(x) and ω(x). (c) Optional Problem: Use Corollary 2 (frequency domain decoding) to ”recover” V from σ(x) and V̂0, V̂1, and V̂2. Problem 5: Solve question 12 (parts a, d) from Chapter 9 of the textbook using Euclid’s algorithm (not Berlekamp-Massey technique). 1
