Psychology is one of the practices that deals with highly recommended ethical considerations. Here, the professionals are not merely treating something tangible just like the plenty of concerns in our physical body. Rather, we basically extend our hands to those people who are in need of help regarding the things that our eyes don't see. Thus, these individuals who are experiencing such things under it, need to be recognized, assessed, and treated. With that saying, it comes along with great dos and don'ts which are included in the ethics of the above-mentioned field, most especially when doing empirical study —research. In the world of research, it is strict mainly in terms of following the right procedures to be executed. This is in order to provide results that are valid and reliable. However, it is not that easy to produce quality work. Before we achieve this, we have to consider various factors that can intervene in our study. To begin with, the researchers must have a mind that is eager for factual information and all persistent in the way that they do. We have to acknowledge the 4 ethical principles that can be enumerated to four: respect, competence, responsibility, and integrity. On the other hand, in ethical issues, there are three basic approaches that can help us in conducting the research. On top of that is the deontology approach. It involves the judgments that are based on the universal code, and whatever the situation is, it must never be broken. Next is ethical skepticism. This can be explained by the context of when a participant doesn't want to respond to a specific inquiry because he/she believes it is inappropriate, and vice versa. Lastly, utilitarianism is the combination of the two initially stated approaches, combining the general good and the conscience. Additionally, even professionals are sometimes crossing the line, though. There are popular researches made by well-known persons which seem to significantly violate the code of ethics in psychology in every possible way. These controversial studies are Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment, Zimbardo Prison Experiment, and Milgram Obedience Study which we are, most of us, familiar with.
