PEOL 451 – ADVENTURE EDUCATION Team Project: Activity Pool Assignment The purpose of this assignment is to compile a common pool of group activities that course participants can utilize as a resource when leading groups in an outdoor education setting. Each participant is required to write up four activities and submit them in hard copy form to the course instructors AND electronically to the course Blackboard site by the deadline specified on the course schedule, and according to the following guidelines. At the end of the term, course participants can access all of the activities compiled by their classmates. Activity Selection and Write Up Guidelines PART A: • Write up THREE activities that are itemized into the following categories: name games, socializers, warm up activities, games, ambulators, and tone setters. NOTE: o Select three activities total (not 3 from each category). Select only one activity per category. For example, a name game, socializer and tone setter, or a warm up activity, socializer, and game, etc. o The Activity Pool will be more comprehensive if students do not replicate activity write-ups. To claim an activity, input your submission and name on Blackboard. Please consult the Blackboard site before submitting your activity to prevent duplication. The longer you wait to select activities, the more restricted your options become. o Information about conducting activities can be obtained from your own knowledge base, in class activities, Jen, resources on reserve, and the Internet. o Each activity write up is worth 4 points (12 points total and 12% of your course grade). • Utilize the following template when writing up the three activities that you have selected. Include and underline the title for each of the following categories (e.g. name, type of activity, etc.) and DO NOT deviate from the order in which you present information. If everyone follows the same template, the final product will be consistently organized resource that is easier to use, especially in the distant future. Name: write the name of the activity Type of Activity - e.g. name game, tone setter, socializer, group initiative, etc. Activity Description - a thorough description of the activity. A facilitator who has never conducted the activity should be able to run it smoothly based solely on your description. Include any parameters (rules) or safety considerations. Equipment/resources needed - list all equipment and resources required. PART B: • Write up ONE group initiative of your choosing. Once you have selected a group initiative (do the research on your own - a list will not be generated from which to make a selection), contact Jen who will approve your selection. Any group initiative that has been delivered in class may be selected, but NOT by the team that delivered the activity. NOTES:
