Task management is the process by which the manager follows the process through its entirety, from planning to execution to completion. The manager must prioritize and keep the team on track to complete to process. There are eight managerial tasks, that each organization can utilize to enhance its operation. The first is building and retaining a strong management team. Oftentimes new organizations have a hard time retaining talent. Often star employees are taken by larger organizations that can pay them more money. I have learned over the years that money is nice but not necessarily the most important. The second task would be to secure financial security to ensure the organization can at least maintain until profits are obtained. Third, creating policies and procedures that are easily executed. There are times organizations spend time and energy on policies that ultimately will fail. This is because they are written without thinking of contingency plans, policies should be written in a way the end-user can critical think through the issue at hand. As a manager, it can be difficult to see the big picture when you are so caught up in daily operations. We always have to remember change does not come quickly. I like to equate this to an ocean liner making a turn in open water. That is a process that takes time and it happens very slowly. Changes in policies and procedures should be looked at the same way. The fourth management task is always looking for better ways to accomplish a goal or enhance patient care and experiences. It is our responsibility to always evaluate best practices ensuring what we are doing or what we want to do has been tested and in the best interest of our patients. The fifth management tasks utilizing technology to benefit our patients as well as the organization. Several key factors should be evaluated as systems are implemented, always remember the most important goal is protecting our patient's private health information. Ensure that the system is user-friendly and the people using it will be able to understand how it works. Ensure buy education on the new systems is extremely important. The sixth task would be to recognize and reward employees for achieving milestones in reaching strategic and financial goals. When looking at how to set standard goals an organization should consider utilizing a SMART goal format. The seventh and what I consider to be the most difficult would be instilling a culture that promotes the organization's mission and vision. There are many strategies to accomplish this, but I feel managing while walking around is probably the best. The one downside is as a manager you have to stay consistent in the words you are using. One very important thing regarding an organization's culture is if you don't create a culture one will be created for you. The eighth and final managerial task is to exercise strong leadership. One of the best tools a manager has in his toolbox is communication. The ability to communicate both wins and losses to the entire team. The team needs to know when they are doing good as well as when they could be doing better. A manager must be able to organize their team. If a team is not organized to some level chaos will ensue (Sutevski, 2017). In conclusion, the eight tasks of managers are not easy. As a new manager, it is important to remember not all tasks new to be completed every day. The manager's days will get inodiated with more and more meetings. The expectations of senior leaders will continue to increase and
