Download Getting Started with Canvas: A Guide for Faculty at Palm Beach State College and more Study notes Design in PDF only on Docsity! Are You New to Canvas? Here’s a list of easy steps to help faculty get started quickly! LOGIN TO CANVAS Visit https://www.palmbeachstate.edu/canvas then enter your PBSC login credentials to access Canvas. Chrome or Firefox browser is strongly recommended. You also may want to bookmark the login page. CANVAS BASIC TRAINING When you log into Canvas you will enter your Dashboard page. On top of the Dashboard page you will see an invitation (as an announcement) to join two courses (click on links to self-enroll): 1. Growing with Canvas – Faculty Training This brief overview provides the basics of Canvas course structure, organization, content delivery, and tool functionality. Please keep in mind that this course and all information/tutorials within it may feature some older tools that have been recently updated, or they may not be inclusive of all tools and services licensed by our College. But they will provide the basics to help you get started. 2. Converting your Bb Courses – Where to Begin This course provides the outline and steps necessary to make a typical course transferred from Blackboard ready for delivery in Canvas. Please understand that your course may be structured somewhat differently than the course structure described/presented here, but all basics will be applicable. We recommend you join both courses and – depending on your LMS skills and Canvas knowledge – utilize the course resources to attain a basic understanding of the Canvas environment and the steps to restructure your imported courses for Canvas delivery. First, we suggest you begin and work your way through the Growing with Canvas – Faculty Training course. Next, we suggest you review the Converting your Bb Courses – Where to Begin course. Your Canvas Dashboard - You will see many of your courses that were transferred from Blackboard to Canvas on your Dashboard page. Please note that the Dashboard page is limited in the number of displayed courses; you will find the rest of the courses by going to the Courses icon in the green navigation bar then to All Courses at the bottom of the expanded menu. You will most likely want to organize your Dashboard page – Canvas provides the steps on how to organize your Dashboard course listing in the Growing with Canvas – Faculty Training course. Open one of your transferred courses and examine the course structure and content. Begin applying changes following the outline provided in the Converting your Bb Courses – Where to Begin course. When you become comfortable with this process and using the tools, you are almost there! Make your first course ready, and then continue with the next one. Please keep in mind that PBSC instruction in Canvas will commence in Fall 2021. Your Fall 2021 courses will need to be ready and published before the first day of classes.
