ASSESSMENT REPORT FOR Family and Consumer Sciences Education Bachelor of Science (Instructional Degree Program) (Degree Level) August 2007- July 2008 July 1, 2008 (Assessment Period Covered) (Date Submitted) Intended Educational (Student) Outcome: NOTE: There should be one form C for each intended outcome listed on form B. Intended outcome should be restated in the box immediately below and the intended outcome number entered in the blank spaces. __1__ Students completing the baccalaureate degree (FCSE) will have the knowledge to receive licensure for a beginning teacher. First Means of Assessment for Outcome Identified Above: __1__a. Means of Program Assessment & Criteria for Success: 90% of the FCSE student teachers will pass the Praxis II exam before graduation with no student falling below the 50th percentile on any sub-score. __1__a. Summary of Assessment Data Collected: 100% of the FCSE student teachers passed the Praxis II exam. __1__a. Use of Results to Improve Instructional Program: Criteria exceeded. Assessment will continue. Data will be monitored for needed improvements. Second Means of Assessment for Outcome Identified Above: __1__b. Means of Program Assessment & Criteria for Success: 90% of FCSE seniors taking the CFCS exam as a requirement for FCS 400 will pass the exam on the first attempt. __1__b. Summary of Assessment Data Collected: 100% of the FCSE seniors taking the CFCS exam passed on the first attempt. __1__b. Use of Results to Improve Instructional Program: Criteria met. Continuation of the exam and monitoring of results will be done. No comparative data with seniors from other institutions are available. We will continue the efforts to strongly support and encourage the students to prepare for the exam by reviewing the study guide and completing the practice exam. Test taking enhancement efforts will continue in FCS 400. Since this is the FCS nationally normed exam, continuation of the exam and monitoring of results will continue. Form C Third Means of Assessment for Outcome Identified Above: Form C __1__c. Means of Program Assessment & Criteria for Success: 90% of the FCSE graduates responding to the alumni survey will “strongly agree” or “agree” that they were well prepared for their first FCS teaching job with no graduate indicating “strongly disagree”. __1__c. Summary of Assessment Data Collected: No FCSE graduates of one year returned the survey. __1__c. Use of Results to Improve Instructional Program: No action to be taken at this time. ASSESSMENT REPORT
