Students will learn how to find grants and other funding opportunities by attending a seminar by the College of Engineering Grant Writer, Otilia Sanchez. Students will search for funding opportunities, including grants, fellowships, and scholarships and submit a list of at least five possibilities that are in alignment with their research team’s activities. The list will include the name of each funding opportunity, how it was located, and a one- or two-sentence synopsis of how the research team’s activities or the student’s personal preparation fit into the guidelines and scope of the funding opportunity. Notes: 1. Student teams must submit a proposal or application to at least one of the funding opportunities identified in Assignment 2 as part of a future MEEN 4900.708 assignment. Students should keep this requirement in mind while performing their funding opportunity searches. (In other words, don’t pick five 100-page-minimum National Science Foundation grant solicitations; pick at least two or three that can be written in a week or two).
