Sarah Gatte September 20, 2008 EDTC 100-K Autobiography Do you know those teachers that always give there students a hard time and are always fussing at there students? Well I have never had a teacher that was like that. My teachers were always the nice ones that really taught great. I remember sitting in class with my other classmates and we could hear the teacher hollering down the hall at her students. I am so glad that I never had to deal with a teacher like that. All of my teachers have been really good role models for me. My second grade teacher was one of the biggest influences in my life, and a few years after I had her she died. I hope that someday I could be an influence on one my students as my teachers where on me. Here is a little something about myself. A little something about me is that I am currently going to McNeese, and majoring in early childhood education. I absolutely love to be around kids. I cannot wait to be a teacher. It is the best feeling in the world to put a smile on a child’s face. I love to learn, and to teach people things. I love to see their expression when they learn something new, or finally get something they have been struggling with. Something that has been a big part of me staying grounded has been my family. I was raised in Lake Arthur, LA by my parents, Dickie and Drusilla. I am the youngest of three. I graduated from Lake Arthur High School, in May of 2008. My mom is a lab manager at O.L.I., one of my brothers is currently going to college at ULL and majoring in English education, three of my aunts are teachers, and I have several cousins that are teachers or are going to school to become teachers. I have had a lot of inspiration in my life from all of my family to go into the field of education, because my family says that I would be a great teacher. Another reason I have stayed grounded is that I have participated in many things while I was in High School. Since I was in the sixth grade, I was in band where I played the trumpet. Band was one thing that would help me to calm down and relax when I was stressed out. I do not think I could have mad it through high school and junior high with out band. I have also made many friends because of band. I was also a cheerleader in high school. This was something that I loved, because it was a way that I could interact with younger children and they looked up to me. I was co-captain for two years, so this helped me become a great leader. If I would not have done cheerleading and band in high school, I would have probably been like others that I have seen, and started hanging out with the wrong crowd. Something that has helped me stick to my life-long dream of becoming a teacher is my church. I was also active in my church. I helped with Sunday school for two years and summer religion for three years. I was an alter server for ten years. I am now in the Newman Club, the Catholic Student Center on campus. I have made many new friends all of which I hope to remain friends with for the rest of my life. My religion is another thing that I would not be able to live with out, because no matter how tough things got in my life I always had God on my side. I think that god has led me towards becoming a teacher, so that I can educate our future. I cannot wait to get into the field of education. Being a teacher as been a dream of mine for several years, and I hope that I can teach our future generations to be great leaders in the various walks of life. I will always be open to new ways of teaching styles,
