Download ME 251: Music Education - Notation Project - Prof. Neal Y. Smith and more Study Guides, Projects, Research History of Education in PDF only on Docsity! ME 251: Intro. to Music Ed. Beginning Notation Project For this project you will need to: • Set-up a new document • Select a time signature • Select a key signature • Enter notation for a common folk song • Enter notation for a simple accompaniment to the song • Insert text to create title and composer • Arrange the finished music on the page o Delete extra measures o Modify the placement of measures on the page (if needed) o Adjust the spacing of music on the page. (if needed) • Be able to add measures and insert a double bar. • Add solfege to the melody using lyric tool • Add articulations • Add expression markings For the project you will notate a folk song of your choosing. You can use Finale or Sibelius to complete the project, though Sibelius will be the one I will demonstrate in class. The song should be at least 16 bars long and should include a harmonic accompaniment for a keyboard instrument (such a piano or organ). This should be a harmonic accompaniment that you have created yourself, not a commercially available arrangement. It doesn’t need to be elaborate, but it does need to be your creation. Create a document for a solo voice and keyboard and enter the song into the solo part. Make sure that all of your staves are labeled correctly and that the correct clefs are being used. Your solo part should include the appropriate articulations and dynamics for your chosen song and the solfege should be added underneath the pitches. In the piano part notate the accompanying chords as well as any necessary dynamics or articulations. Please any extra measures from the end of the piece and arrange the measures using page view so that they are easy to follow. Add the title and composer in the appropriate places. You will need to print a hard copy of your project and send the computer file (which should have a .sib or .mus tag) to me as an e-mail attachment. Please remember that these projects are assessed by how precisely you complete the assignment (see list above) as well as the musical accuracy of your example. Feel free to check with me if you have questions. Projects are due on Monday, Sept. 18th
