Download BTS: True Artists of This Era and more High school final essays Performing arts in PDF only on Docsity! BTS is unarguably the biggest boyband in the world right now. They have broken through racial prejudice and the English dominated music artist to play at sold-out stadiums all over the world. They are humble artists who prefer to address their oppression through lyrics and connection with their art. As someone who is part of their fandom, ARMY, I know how deeply involved they are with producing their music and how deep their connection with art is. I could say that the theory of art that would apply for them is expressionism. It is very obvious in their discography how much they express they're undying love for art and music. This is enough proof to call them true artists. They always give something new and experiment with different things for each of their comeback. They really are true artists. Just by reading the English translations of their songs, you would easily see how passionate they are with their music and art. For example with their song Dionysus, they compared their addiction to art to getting drunk, getting satisfaction from creating a good harvest and their song Black Swan is about their darkest fear of losing the connection to their passion of art and music in the midst of fame. BTS are definitely not strangers to the art world. They frequently share photos of their visits to galleries across the globe on social media. Even in the plot of their BTS universe storylines there are multiple theories how their songs and music videos are related to a particular book or art of some artist. Most especially during the Wings era, their music video blood, sweat and tears is basically a work of art featuring other works of art specifically Renaissance era. Many paintings and literature were featured and referenced in the song and music video to further express their true feelings. Throughout their career, they have tried so many new things with new content, all with the purpose of highlighting the power of art and connection. And this is the reason why I admire them because they are so creative and innovative. Furthermore, some of their music are inspired by other cultures but they aren’t cultural appropriating instead they are cultural appreciating because they take inspiration from a culture, then they pay tribute to it by naming the provenance. They expose so many new ideas and concepts in an interesting way. I can still remember how emotional and happy I was with their last album release and I will never stop talking about it when they made the Connect BTS, a whole creative project wherein they launched exhibitions across five countries that celebrated twenty-two artists around the world in order to redefine the connection between art and music. It is so mind-blowing and truly admirable how much they care about art, about music, about humanity and creativity, about making connections. Whether you are a fan of BTS or not, the idea to connect artists and curators around the world centered on this idea of beliefs and connections, is innovative and worthy of discussion across the broad spectrum of art. No one has ever thought that different mediums of art could be connected globally to form a unified idea but BTS made it happen. This just shows the incredible artistic vision that they have. As someone who loves art, it was such a wonderful opportunity to experience art in different forms from different artists. BTS are not just normal artists who makes music, BTS makes music with a strong message to the audience which is really deep and healing. Moreover, you can really feel their emotion with how they express themselves in every line and every beat of their songs which makes them have the power to move the heart of their audience or the public to be interested in what kinds of art they showcase. The best thing about BTS is that they also give other artists a huge support and appreciation, spreading more information about beauty of art, beauty of nature, gives music and activities but with lessons so their audience can explore more. This is how BTS use their platforms, to educate their audience about music, arts and philosophy from their perspective. I just love and respect how they are so deeply involved and actually willing to contribute themselves to the art they create carefully and present it to mass. It leaves me no choice other than to appreciate and taste it to its fullest. So if you do ask me if they should be seen as an artists based from the theories that I have learned, without a doubt I am telling you that they are indeed true artists of this era.
