Roosevelt in the United States between 1933 and 1939. It aimed to provide relief, recovery, and reform from the devastating effects of the Great Depression. Here are three significant ways the New Deal sought to address these problems: 1. Major Legislation Several significant pieces of legislation were passed as part of the New Deal. These laws aimed to stabilize the economy and provide jobs and relief to those suffering from the Great Depression.  The National Industrial Recovery Act (NIRA): This act allowed industries to create codes of fair competition, which helped to stabilize prices and reduce destructive competition.  The Agricultural Adjustment Act (AAA): This act aimed to boost agricultural prices by reducing surpluses. The Government bought livestock for slaughter and paid farmers subsidies not to plant on part of their land.  The Social Security Act: This act created a system of transfer payments in which younger, working people support older, retired people. This was a significant move towards the welfare state in America. 2. Organizations The New Deal led to the creation of several organizations, known as New Deal agencies, to help implement its policies.  The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC): This was a work relief program that gave millions of young men employment on environmental projects during the Great Depression.  The Works Progress Administration (WPA): This was the largest and most ambitious American New Deal agency, employing millions of unemployed people (mostly unskilled men) to carry out public works projects.  The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA): This agency provided navigation, flood control, electricity generation, fertilizer manufacturing, and economic development in the Tennessee Valley, a region particularly affected by the Great Depression. 3.
