PSY/245 Qualitative Research Case Study University of Phoenix University PSY/245 Qualitative Method to Investigate For my case study, in week one of this course, I chose case study #2. At the large mental health clinic, patients under the age of 35 years old does not respond as well to follow up appointments and medicine reminders than patients over the age of 35 years old. By patients missing medication and follow up appointments has resulted of poor quality of mental health and results in added costs for the mental health clinic. On the recall list there is approximately 1,500 patients and 60 percent are above the age of 35 years of age. Type of Qualitative Method The type of qualitative method the researcher will use is interviews field research. Setting interviews with patients would provide the researchers with lots of data. There are many methods that the researcher can use, such as one-on-on, interviews, focus groups or text analysis. This method is appropriate because of the large number of patients. This method is used to understand experiences, behavior, people’s beliefs, and interaction. Focus Group and Data Collection For this specific case study, the focus groups study approach will be used. This study has its advantage to provide great opportunity to gather precise data to solve the issue. Due to the number of patients a focus group is the best qualitative research method. The researcher is able to have a good number of participants instead of one-on-one interviews which would take longer
