As we know, in several recent years, people are not strange in cyberspace. Children until adults have been using this facility to look for information, to get news update all over the world, and to do some fun. That's why our communication tools now are complete by internet connection, so we are easy in exploring cyberspace. This phenomenon encourage us to think how can exploit another usage of facebook. Relating to students especially in high school, most of them are familiar with this social media. Almost every student has account and they use frequently likewise when they are studying at class. Therefore, the writer try to take the benefit of facebook in order to it is not only media for fun but also has advantage in education. Concerning to some facilities in facebook itself, for example, posting something, chatting room, grouping, and sharing information create an idea to make connection between facebook and writing. It caused of mostly our activity in facebook is to write. In this case, facebook will become an interesting media for students to do their exercise. Hence, this is one solution to overcome students’ mind-numbing in learning English. Now, what kind of writing can be tried out? It can be started by some sentences in a paragraph, then develop it to become short essay, until students can 35 make a complete text or genre. In this research, the writer was limited to make short essay about some topics. The writer did not decide to choose one kind of genre text because genre manages by generic structure. The main indicator of this research is how students can gain, organize, and write their ideas. After three parts of collecting data namely pre-test, treatments and post-test were done the writer analyzed data findings to find out normality analyzing and testing hypothesis. Normality analyzing is aimed to know whether the data was normally distributed and testing hypothesis is purposed to prove this research hypothesis. In normality analysis, the writer found value of t-count in pre-test was 0,0050 and t-count in post test was -0, 1191 (see appendix 5 and 8). The value was obtained by making table of students’ normality analysis for each pre-test and post-test. Then, it was continued by looking for t-table value through dk =N-1 (28-1) and the level of significance α= 0,05 and it was 0, 173. Further, the criteria of normality analysis is accepted if t-count ≤ t-table and it can be summarized that both pre-test and post-test data were normally distribute. The last, in proving the research hypothesis the writer used formula suggested by Arikunto. From this formula, it was found that t-count value was -9, 33 (see appendix 9). In addition, the value of t-table was gotten by counting db = N-1 at the level of significance α = 0,05 and it was 2, 05. Therefore, it can be concluded that the testing hypothesis was accepted by criteria t-count ≤ t-table or t-table ≥ t count and it assumed that using facebook in writing activities are influenced to the students’ writing ability.
