Classic Book Report Materials needed: •  Paper to write or type your book report paragraphs. Details: 1.  Create a classic book report by writing or typing in the form of paragraphs. 2.  Provide information about each question/section on the book report rubric. All elements from the rubric must be written in your book report. 3.  Make sure your work is neat and all writing is legible – typing is not required! Lunch Bag Book Report Materials needed: •  1 paper lunch bag (white or brown J) – I will be happy to provide one, just ask! •  Art supplies: colored pencils, crayons, markers, etc. (to decorate the front of the bag) •  4 – 5 items (models, pictures, or drawings of the items will work just fine) to represent the required elements of the book report (see rubric) Details: 1.  Write the title, author, genre of your book, as well as your name on the front of the lunch bag along with a drawing/illustration to go along with it – be creative 2.  Fill the bag with 4 – 5 items to help you retell the story/cover all of the required elements of the book report (see rubric) 3.  On the back of the lunch bag, write 3 – 5 sentence review of the book – did you enjoy the book? Would you recommend it to a friend? What type of reader would enjoy it? Examples: Sandwich Book Report Materials needed: •  1 “sandwich template” (Ask your teacher for a copy if there are no extra copies in the binder!) •  Art supplies: colored pencils, crayons, markers, etc. (to decorate the parts of the “sandwich” •  1 binder ring to bind the pieces together (will be provided) Details: 1.  On the top slice of bread, draw/illustrate an image that represents the book, write the title, author, genre and your name 2.  On the back slice of bread, write 3 – 5 sentence review of the book – did you enjoy the book? Would you recommend it to a friend? Examples: Commercial (T.V. or Radio) Materials needed: •  Video camera or voice recorder to record your commercial. •  Art supplies: colored pencils, crayons, markers, glue etc. (to decorate the poster) •  Commercial template (provided by your teacher to guide your commercial) Details: 1.  Use the provided template to record a commercial for TV or radio. 2.  Please make sure your commercial includes the required elements explained on the rubric . 3.  Your commercial should be fun and interesting. You can make it funny or serious – it’s up to you! 4.  You may email your audio or video recording to your teacher or bring it in on a USB flash drive. Example: Note: This book report commercial does not include all of the required elements. Your commercial MUST include all of the elements listed on the rubric. h$ps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUjXdiI8P7A CEREAL BOX BOOK REPORT Your assignment is to design a cereal related to a fictional book. You will also decorate a real cereal box with illustrations, text and even a prize inside! FRONT OF BOX: Include the name of the cereal and a picture. Invent a name for the cereal that is related to book, yet sounds like a cereal. Do not use the exact title of the book. Choose a shape for the cereal as well as colors and ingredients that all relate to the book. RIGHT SIDE: Make a list of ingredients that includes the story elements (main characters and setting). Under the heading ‘Ingredients,’ list the main characters and the setting and write at least 1 sentence about each. LEFT SIDE: write a one- paragraph summary that describes the main problem and the solution of the book. Try to use words that will “grab* the reader's attention and make them want to buy your cereal. BACK OF BOX: Design a game that is based on the story. It can be a puzzle, word search, word scramble, maze, crossword puzzle, hidden picture illustration, or any other fun activity. Make sure that it includes information from the book. TOP OF BOX: Include the title, author, number of pages, and the number of stars you would give the book if you were a book critic. The maximum number is 5 stars. PRIZE: Your prize must be something the main character could have used in the book or something that reminds you of the main character. You must include a picture of the prize on the front of your box. You may actually put a prize in your box! DON'T FORGET! Proofread carefully to avoid errors in grammar, spelling and/or punctuation. Cereal box must be colorful and creatively designed. Cereal box must be neatly assembled and written portions need to be easy to read!
