Did you purchase them online or watch through application like NetFlix, IwantTv and other movie application? - Through Netflix, downloaded from internet sites, movie/cinema theather. 2. Using a visual representation, create your generalization and discuss what globalization? How would you define globalization - Globalization are like waves in the sea shore – it is changing as human society develops like the seashore. It continuous to happen even today and in the future. The future of globalization is too difficult to predict like the waves in the sea shore. What we would expect in the coming years is the fluidity and complexity of globalization. 3. What metaphors are you going to use in order to improve your own definition of globalization? Enumerate at least three and explain one of them. - Seashore – is the society that molds the globalization and in turn being molded by it. - Waves- the impact of the globalization which continuously changes - Fluidity- the adjustment and the molding of the globalization in whatever shape it changes where it continuously flows. What are the advantages and disadvantages of using (a) broad and inclusive definitions and (b) narrow and exclusive definitions of globalization? - Broad/inclusive- borderless world/ issues that deal with overcoming traditional boundaries - Narrow/exclusive- applied to only particular definitions/limiting 2. What do you think is the importance of defining globalization? - To clarify the ideas and unify a clearer meaning and understanding of globalization 3. Do you agree with the idea that the contemporary world is characterized by high liquidity? Why or why not? - Yes, because it is dependent and changes accordingly with the society like the fluidity of water Week 3-4: Module 1- Lesson II: Globalization Theories Activity! I. Answer the following question below. 1. Are societies in the world becoming more similar (homogenous) or more different (heterogeneous)? The societies are becoming more homogenous and at the same time more heterogeneous. Homogenous, due to the influence of the social media through the internet where people are able to connect to one another making beliefs and interests attract common emotions in each individual. But also heterogenous because people are then exposed to other ideas and beliefs creating new discoveries which may be contradicting to their own leading to a more variety of groups and individuals. 2. Which of the aforementioned views on the history of globalization you find most appealing? Why? Hardwired because of the human need to make our lives better that made the globalization better. Indeed its because of the need of man for survival and to make there lives better also for survival which makes globalization in every part of man’s history. II. Ang Mundo sa Mata ng isang OFW. 1. Find a former or current OFW to be interviewed. Your respondent’s name should not be revealed in class to protect the person’s identity and ensure anonymity. 2.
