India is at the top of the list of the most corrupt nations in the world. Despite being democratic, our country is transforming into a non- democratic nation. There is no guarantee of a fair share of opportunities and rights at any cost. A long path awaits India to attain the status of a developed nation due to the circumstances caused by corruption. In simple terms, corruption means ''dishonest or immoral behaviour or activities''. With upcoming and recent advancements, the needs and demands of our large population rise, causing instability socially, politically, and economically. India's well-known economist Mr C.K. Prahlad estimates that the loss of opportunities caused by corruption regarding investment, growth and jobs for India is over the U.S. $30 billion a year. It presents a dull picture of how we invent new methods of cheating the government and the public rather than attaining success with our fellow beings. As a result, the situation becomes very complex to handle. We often encounter stories of bribery and unfair use of money or position to turn things in our favour. A candidate or a political party often earns votes from the public by the force of corruption. Parents usually give donations to secure admissions for their children in high- profile institutions, snatching away opportunities for worthy candidates. Some greedy and inhumane people working under the system evade the provisions and commit the crime of corruption.
