Not Normal: The Pandemic and Incompetency The Coronavirus is one of the families of viruses known for containing strains and causes potentially deadly disease in humans. A detailed investigation about this circulating virus these days it is similar to SARS- Cov that can be transmitted through civet cats and Mers- Cov from dromedary of camels to humans. Viruses make up the longest genome of any RNA virus- a single strand of nucleic acid roughly ranges to 26,000 to 32,000 bases long. The latest Coronavirus is known as COVID 19. It was originated in Wuhan and Hubei, China, the epicenter of the outbreak. It has been a year since the pandemic strike the Philippines. As of April 9, 2021 the Philippines recorded 840,554 + 12,188 confirmed cases, 14,520 + 401 deaths, and 647,683 + 715 have recovered. Everyday there is always an update about Covid-19 patients and the number of patients continues to grow daily. Until it was reported by the Philippine’s President Duterte that Manila or the National Capital Region, Bulacan, Laguna, Cavite, and Rizal will be under the General Community Quarantine. It is where all the establishments except essentials are closed and not allowed to go outside the house due to rapid increase of Covid-19 cases in the country. Last year of March 2020, the President announced that Manila and other region in the Philippines will be under for a community quarantine in a month for the first time. Ever since the pandemic Filipinos are taught to just obey what the government have said. The Department of Health is entrusted to enhance the coronavirus laboratory testing capacity, hospital preparedness, rapid response, and its risk communication and information dissemination in the country. While the Bureau of Quarantine is tasked in working with airlines and airport authorities to strengthen border surveillance and the Epidemiology Bureau is working for local community surveillance. However, it seems that there has no progress about the current situation if it will be compared to last year.
