Premature deaths has also remained consistent on all levels of data findings, but remains 10% higher than the national average in Hamilton County (CHRR, 2019). 10 C. Health Factors 1. Comparison of Data Hamilton County comes high on the list when compared to other counties in the state of Tennessee but I feel that it still falls significantly short when compared to national averages. Hamilton county data is significantly worse than the United States top performer, however when compared to the state performs higher in all the above areas. While it is a 11 positive note that the county is performing better than its state level, some areas show a minor improvement. Smoking rates differ by 1 % from county to state, drinking is matched and unemployment rates have only a 0.2% difference. This could indicate that Hamilton County is at a point where some changes could be made and show a significant improvement or decrease in performance. Right now is the time for Hamilton County to be looking at the data and determining what can be done so they continue to rise above the state averages and show that they can compete with the United States top performer. D. SUMMARY 1. Significant Finding(s) A health trend that is significant in Hamilton County is alcohol related driving deaths. I feel that an action plan can be developed and help to redirect the outcomes. There has been an insignificant decrease in the deaths and the county is almost 10% above the national average when it comes to these deaths (County Health Rankings and Roadmaps [CHRR], 2019). I feel that if these driving deaths were to be decreased, there would also be a decrease in premature deaths that occur from accidents or overdose on alcohol and an action plan could target the data showing that there is a 2% increase in excessive drinking in the county when compared to the top performer. 2. Action Plan(s) Creating an action plan, is a lengthy, challenging process that includes researching key stakeholders and influential people in the community that can further the plan and potentially make it policy. It also includes research on evidence-based practices that can be implemented to reduce driving deaths related to alcohol consumption. Meetings would need to be held with an advocacy team and roles assigned, so that there is an organized system to meet the needs of the group. Initially questions will need to be answered from stakeholders and 12 Data for section B and C was obtained from County Health Rankings and Roadmaps. The data from this source was pulled and put into a chart so that it could be interpreted easily. I also used this site to view and utilize graphs for understanding and interpretation.
