Tenioso Merriam Webster Dictionary defined Oath as a solemn attestation of the truth or inviolability of one's word. From the same dictionary Hippocratic Oath defined as an oath embodying a code of medical ethics usually taken by those about to begin medical practice. Thereby I’m not in favor of legalizing Euthanasia due to it violate their promised oath. As mentioned by (Pies, 2018) “The Oath clearly states: 'I will neither give a deadly drug to anybody if asked for it, nor will I make a suggestion to this effect.’ Indeed, when patients nearing the end of life express fears of losing control, or being deprived of dignity, compassionate and supportive counseling is called for — not assistance in committing suicide." Through this, if there promise pledged is violated physician’s integrity can be directly affected. According to (Sulmasy et al, 2016) “Physician- Assisted- Suicide undermines the integrity of both physician and patient as it is a contradiction to the patient's seeking to be well; and a violation of the principled duty of the physician to help the patient to become well also it undermined physician integrity is leading to loss of patient trust in physicians.” As studied by (Austriaco, 2011) He claimed that “Many Dutch patients, before they will check themselves into hospitals, insist on writing contracts assuring that they will not be killed without their explicit consent. The Dutch elderly mistrust their own doctor.” Beckford (2011) indicated that ““Elderly people in the Netherlands are so fearful of being killed by doctors that they carry cards saying they do not want euthanasia.” “By the 1990s over 50% of acts of euthanasia were no longer voluntary. This is according to the 1991 Remmelink Report, a study on euthanasia requested by the Dutch government and conducted by the Dutch Committee to Study the Medical Practice Concerning Euthanasia” (Patel and Rushefsky, 2015). According to (Christian Medical and Dental Association, 2018) “The Hippocratic Oath is the foundational moral principle of medicine, pledged by doctors for centuries as they attempt to cure and relieve suffering without injuring the patient. It’s a principle being eroded by the movement to legalize physician-assisted suicide (PAS) and euthanasia. “ Abouts : "The Christian Medical & Dental Associations (CMDA) are made up of the Christian Medical Association (CMA) and the Christian Dental Association (CDA). CMDA provides resources, networking opportunities, education and a public voice for Christian healthcare professionals and students."
