And the ability to make decision timely is not only one of the traits that the greatest leader poses, but also one of the fundamental employability skills stated by the Conference Board of Canada. There are several ways of making a decision. Before making a decision I suggest to the Managers of PRAN-RLF Group to try those seven steps to improve their decision making. 1. Analyze the decision: When you realize you are the only one that you need to make a decision. Try to clearly define the nature of the decision you must make. This first step is very important. 2. Gather relevant Information: Collect some important information as needed before you make your decision: what information is needed, the best sources of information, and how to get it. This step involve both internal and external `work` some information is internal: you will collect it through a process of self-assessment. And external information: you will find it online, in book, from other people and other sources. 3. Identify the Alternative: As you collect information, you will probably identify several possible ways of action, or alternatives. You can also use your imagination and additional information to construct a new alternative. In this step you list all the alternatives. 4. Weigh the Evidence: Draw on your information and emotions to imagine what it would be like if you carried out each of the alternatives to the end. You’ll begin to like certain alternatives: those that seem to have a higher potential for reaching your goal. Finally place the alternatives in a priority order, based upon your own value system. 5. Choose Among Alternatives: After weighing all the evidence you are ready to choose the alternative that seems the best one for your decision. Also you may even choose the combination of alternatives. And place your choices at the top of your alternative list (which you made at the end of step 4). 6. Take Action: You are now ready to take some positive action by beginning to implement your alternatives you chose in step 5. 7. Review Your Decision & It`s Consequence: In this final step, you consider the result of your decisions and evaluate whether you are making the best decisions or not. If the decision does not met with your goal. Then you may want to repeat certain steps of the process to make a new decision. For example, you might want to gather more detailed or somewhat different information or explore additional alternatives.
