We chose this topic because, as of today's pandemic, social media has become more accessible, especially among students, who have become much more adept than older people because of their early exposure to social media. And in addition to that, as researchers, we also experienced social media’s prevalence on us and we are aware of its possible impacts on students like us so we chose this topic to address how this social media thing affects our intellectual development which reflects and is an integral part on what will academic performance will become. Pinili po naming ang topic na ito dahil ngayong may nagaganap na pandemya, ang social media ay mas nagiging accessible at kailangan na ng mga tao, lalo na sa mga studyante, sila ang mas gumagamit ng mga ito dahil sila ay kadalasang nae-expose nang maaga sa social media. Kaya po kami rin mismo, nararanasan po naming at kami po ay aware sa mga kakayahan at nilalaman ng social media sa mga estudyante na kagaya rin namin. What is your research all about? Our research is about determining how social media involves in the intellectual development of junior high school students at our school. St Vincent college of Cabuyao in the new normal. We intend measure how social media activities impact the students’ academic performance and further development on the way they think whether again if the majority of the survey responses will declare it’s a positive or a negative relationship between the two variables, social media and students’ intellectual development, especially with the sudden appearance of the coronavirus pandemic. Tungkol saan ang research niyo? Ang aming research ay tumutukoy po sa pag-aalam kung paano nagiging involved ang kaalaman ng mga studyante sa junior high school sa svcc. Ngayong nasa new normal na po tayo, ang goal po namin ay sukatin kung ano ang impact ng paggamit ng social media sa pagiging active ng mga mag-aaral sa eskwelahan at kung paano sila nakakapag-isip, nakadepende po ito kung ang mga resulta ng aming survey ay positive or negative doon sa aming mga variables, ito ay ang social media pati ang intellectual development ng mga mag-aaral, lalo na sa panahong mayroon po tayong biglaang pandemyang nagaganap What is the scope of your study? Our research aims at junior high school students at St. Vincent College of Cabuyao because we have a social connection with them, including some teachers, and we can ask for assistance to gather more survey answers faster and easier. We will of course attain this this by using Google Forms surveys as this is a descriptive- correlational study. And by using the Likert scale to determine whether social media affects their cognitive or intellectual abilities and whether they affect them positively or negatively. Ano ang scope nyo? ang research po namin ay nakapokus sa mga mag-aaral ng St. Vincent College of Cabuyao sa junior high school, kasi mayroon po tayong koneksyon sa kanila socially, kasama na po sa mga guro, maaari po kaming magtanong at magpa-assist sa kanila sa pagbabahagi ng mga surveys nang mas madali at mas mabilis. Isasagawa po naming ito sa pamamagitan ng paggamit ng Google forms at sa pamamagitan rin po ng likert scale para malaman kung paano nakakaapekto ang social media sa kanilang mga abilidad at kakayahang mag-isip. What are the limitations encountered? Actually there are only 3 limitations that we may encounter in this study. First, since we are in a pandemic, our physical resources are limited. We've encountered the respondents' internet problems, considering our survey will be conducted online due to our situation. The next one is cooperation, which is based on the respondents' willingness to respond or answer the given surveys. And finally, transparency which refers to whether the respondents are being truthful or not in answering in the survey. Ano yung limitations na na-encounter niyo? (limitation=hadlang) Mayroon po kaming tatlong limitations na na-encounteer sa research namin. Pang-una, dahil tayo po ay nasa isang pandemic, ang aming mga resources ay limitado lamang. Naisip rin po namin ang kalagayan ng internet connection ng mga estudyante, dahil an gaming mga survey ay gaganapin online sa kadahilanang nasa pandemya pa rin po tayo hanggang ngayon. Ang susunod naman ay ang kooperasyon ng mga estudyante, kung gusto po ba nilang sumagot sa mga katanungan sa mga survey, at ang panghuli, ang transparency po ng mga studyante. Ito naman po ay kung ang mga junior high school students ay nagiging totoo po bas a pagsagot ng mga survey. Ang mga dahilang ito ay isa sa mga factors kung paano makakaapekto ang paggamit at pag-aabuso ng social media sa isang tao, hindi pa namin nasusuri ito dahil hindi pa namin naisasagawa ang pagbibigay ng mga survey sa mga mag-aaral na pwedeng makatukoy kung ang social media ba ay mabuti o masama sa mga mag-aaral. WHY DID YOU USE THAT RESEARCH METHODOLOGY? We used a descriptive-correlational type of study in order to justify how students’ learning outcomes of junior high school students will reflect positively or negatively when using social media. And to determine how it will affect the way they think as students. Bakit niyo ginamit yang research methodology na yan? Ginamit po naming ang method na descriptive-correlational upang masigurado kung ang mga kaalaman at pag-iisip ng aming mga respondents ay nakakaapekto sa positibo o negatibong paraan sa paggamit ng social media, at upang malaman kung paano sila mag-isip bilang mga mag-aaral. WHAT IS YOUR MOTIVATION FOR THIS STUDY? Well, as junior high school student ourselves, we are concerned how can social media affect our intellectual abilities and further cognitive developments while integrating education and social, the way we communicate and interact with other people as a student learning through online. And we really think that our experiences can be a lesson and a way of spreading awareness to students our age who are negligent or we can say ignorant when using social media. Bilang isa ring mga mag-aaral sa junior high school, kami rin po ay nag-aalala kung gaano kalaki ang epekto ng paggamit ng social media s aming mga kakayahan sa pag-iisip, at sa pagpapalawak ng aming mga kakayahan, kung ito man ay sa aspetong pang-edukasyon o sa pakikisalamuha sa ibang tao bilang mga estudyante na natututo sa paraang online. Kami ay determinado at alam na an gaming mga karanasan ay magiging paraan upang makapamahagi ng awareness sa mga kagaya rin naming mga mag-aaral na hindi masyadong gumagamit o walang masyadong pakialam sa paggamit ng social media.
