By: Reygena Aranil Teaching elementary grades will be having so much work to do and consider for the reason that as pre-service teachers, we will be the ones to teach them the very basics and it was a very important phase in the development of the child. That’s why as future educators we need to be exposed to the scenario that we will be able to act as real teachers possessing characteristics and skills that will benefit us in the near future. That’s why being able to see a demo teaching such as the demo teaching of Jamiebe Potonia in Biology tackling the Reproductive parts of plants expresses certain strategies on how she will be handling her students and be able to deliver the topic effectively. The demo teaching has the objective of identifying the reproductive part of plants, describing the reproductive parts of plants and their functions, and appreciating the importance of plants in real. For the motivation part, the teacher presents a picture and lets the students answer the following question such as What they have observed in the picture? If they have seen plants in their surroundings? Which plant bear flowers and which did not? What is their favorite flower? And If they knew what are the reproductive parts of plants? So, through questioning the students about what they already knew we can assess the prior knowledge of the student about the specific topic which will lead to knowing how they are very familiar with the topic and what students should know about the topic. After the motivation, the teacher divides the class into four groups and each group will be having representatives that will identify and present the parts of gumamela. Then in the presentation, the teacher provides some motivational questions for the students to answer as they go about the exploration. Then in the discussion part, the teacher presented and discuss the parts and functions of the flower. And after that the teacher let the student answer the worksheet in which the student will be identifying what the given statement is talking about and this part of the lesson will be the evaluation. Through this evaluation, the teacher will be able to know if his/her teaching method is effective and also to assess the learner’s development throughout the discussion. She also gave rewards to the students which is inclined to the 3rd principle of the language learning and teaching of Douglas Brown which is the anticipation of rewards that really emphasizes that the student is driven to perform by the positive reinforcement that can be tangible or intangible. And in the Assignment part, the student will be drawing a flower and will label each part of it. I think the whole demo teaching applied the Multi skill and content approach for the reason that the demo teacher encourages the student to participate more, to develop the learner’s speaking ability, and learn more about the topic using the language used in the subject because of this
