They are as follows; Assessment Diagnosis Planning Implementation Evaluation Define Assessment - The systematic collection of data to identify client problems, needs, and strengths Define Diagnosis - The use of critical decision- making skills to reach conclusions about the client's dental hygiene needs based on all available assessment data and evidence in literature. Define Planning - The establishment of realistic goals and dental hygiene interventions to facilitate optimal oral health Implementation - The process of carrying out the dental hygiene care plan designed to meet the assessed needs of the client. Evaluation - The measurement of the extent to which the client has achieved the goals specified in the plan of care. Differentiate the terms "patient" and "client" - "patient" signals that the person is sick so we use the word "client" Define paradigm and distinguish it from the conceptual model - A paradigm is a widely accepted worldview of a discipline that shapes the direction and methods of it's practitioners, educators, administrators, and researchers. Consists of major concepts selected for study by the discipline, and statements about the concepts define them in a global manner. Conceptual Models are important because they provide philosophic and practical perspectives.
