RENR 201 ā€“ Microcomputer Applications Database Exercise #2 Designing an Inventory Database Purpose: To design, develop, and implement an inventory database Procedure: You will develop a database inventory for the courses that you have and/or are planning to take while at Texas A&M. Process: Identify the fields that will be included on each course. These may include (but are not limited to) the department, the course number, the title, the semester taken, the number of credit hours, the number of lecture and lab hours, the grade received, a designation for major courses and for courses in minor areas, the name of the instructor, the building and room(s) where taught, and a comment area for your evaluation of the course. The resulting database (in Access) can be plain or as complex as you wish it to be. Include a report that will print out pertinent information so you can track your progress. Your database should include at least two semestersā€”the current one and either the preceding or next semester. For this exercise, you will turn in a printout of the table with the entered information as well as a report. You do not need to show actual grades receivedā€”they can instead be what you think you deserved or what you wished you had made. Alternative: If you have an idea for a more useful database that you would like to create, then you may pursue that as an option. However, it should be at least as complicated as the one on grades. You could do a database on any collection (stamps, Star Wars figurines, political campaign buttons, postcards, match books, etc.) or a database on statistics of players on a sports team, or whatever else interests you.
