OBJECTIVES At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to be able to: a. complete the story grammar about the story; b. reflect on the theme of the story; c. portray the effects of rash judgement trough short talk show, role play, and letter of encouragement. II. SUBJECT MATTER a. Topic: The Legend of Banyuwangi b. Reference: Grade 8 Learners, Material in English Module 2 pp. c. Materials: computer, videoclip, task cards, and visual aids d. Values: Objectivity and calmness III. PROCEDURE Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity A. Preparatory Activity Motivation Good morning, class! Good morning, ma’am! Today, I want to show you a video clip entitled The Man and the Butterfly. As you watch the video, find out the mistake that was committed by the man towards the butterfly and how that act affected the life of the pitiful butterfly. (The students will watch the video.) Did you like the video? (some will say yes.) Who wants to share about the video? The video is all about a man who watches a butterfly that comes out from the cocoon. The man was so impatient that he cut the cocoon for the butterfly to come out easily but that short – lived act made the butterfly abnormal because the process that it to undergone was cut short. Excellent! There are really instances when our impatience and impulsiveness results to regret. B. Lesson Proper 1. Presentation of the Lesson This morning we will read a story entitled, ”The Legend of Banyuwangi”, and a precious jewel of Indonesian literature. 2. Unlocking of Difficulties But before we read the story let us first acquaint ourselves with the unfamiliar words that could be found in the story. I have here five flowers which has unattached petals. The vocabulary is place in the unattached petals. While the meaning of the vocabulary are placed in the flower. What you are going to do is to match the vocabulary to its appropriate meaning. To help you do the activity, I have used the expressions in the context clue. 1. He succeeded in doing his duty. 2. How will I know who killed my child? moaned Sidapaksa. 3. Ah, wicked woman, why did kill my child? 4. My dearest husband, I am innocent, I didn’t kill our child. 5. I will avenge the death of my son.  duty (n) responsibility, obligation  moaned (v) groaned, whined, whimpered  wicked (adj.) sinful, mean, terrific  innocent (adj.) blameless, guiltless  avenge (v) retaliate punish 3. Discussion Class, find your partner to read the story. You are given only three minutes to read. Discuss about the story as you are done of reading. (the students will read and discuss the story.)
