What are the elements of art? What is your idea about the term “first impression”?s? Activity 10 mins Activity 1 A. The teacher will present a colored reproduction of an impressionist artwork to the class. Impression, Sunrise Claude Monet, 1872 Oil on canvas B. Based on the previous lesson, students will recall the distinct characteristics of impressionism. Teacher will call on volunteers to write the characteristics on the board. C. Students will explain the following briefly. 1. Color and light 2. Ordinary Subjects 3. Painting Outdoors 4. Open Compositions 5. The influence of photography Analysis 10 mins. With the use of the presented picture, the students will explain if the sample artwork fits the general characteristics of impressionist artwork or not. They will cite them in details. Guide questions: 1. Is the paintings’ style appears realistic? 2. Are the forms distinct? 3. What do colors look like? The teacher will instruct again to take a look on the picture and ask: 1. Are the elements of art evident in the sample artwork? Describe each. 2. What are the principles of art? How it is being applied in the sample artwork? Abstraction 10 mins. To Discuss the Concept The students will watch a video presentation about principles of art.
