Content Standard The learner demonstrates understanding of the basic concepts of timbre. B. We often see this instrument in a band. This is the drum. The sound it creates is boom, boom, boom Okay, let’s move on to the next picture. Impressive! This is the piano. The sound it creates is ding, ding, ding. It uses stick to create a sound, it’s a drum. It’s large and I often see this in the church, it’s called piano. How about this one? Excellent! This is the trumpet. The sound it creates is tot, tot, tot. Next. Very well said! This is called triangle. And the sound it creates is ting, ting, ting. Okay, take a look at this one. Very Good! This is a cymbals. The sound it makes clang, clang, clang. It’s a tube with a narrow and wide end. It’s shape is a triangle with a stick. It looks like a plate, ma’am. What does it sounds like again? Great! How about this one? Impressive! It’s almost Christmas now and we often see them in people who are Christmas caroling. What is the name of this instrument? Yes, the sound it makes is cleng, cleng, cleng We can hear a lot of sounds around us which are soft and loud sounds. They may come from an objects, animals, people, and musical instruments. Now, let’s have a short activity to know if you understand our lesson. I am going to show some pictures and you are going to say what musical instrument is it. Raise your hand if you want to answer. Are we clear class? Okay, first photo. Yes, Mary Jane? Shek, shek, shek It’s like a container with coins. I always see this to kids who are Christmas caroling. It’ a gong, ma’am E. Discussing new concepts and practicing new skills #2 Now, let’s play a game. I am going to group you into three groups. We will play a Musical Bingo. Each group will receive a music bingo card. I am going to play some instruments and your task is to identify what instrument is being played and mark it in your cards. Are we clear class? Now, let’s have another activity. I am going to play a music and you are going to create a picture based on what you hear. Each of you will receive a paper and crayons. Are you ready class? Okay, you have one minute to draw. Music number one. Okay, who wants to share their output in class? Mary Jane come here in front and show us Yes, ma’am (Students draw) (Students raise their hands) your work. Why did you draw a smiling sun? Very well said, the music is lively and happy. Music number two. Okay, who wants to share their work in class? Okay Kyla, show us what you create. Why did you draw a sad face? Impressive, the music is emotional. When you’re listening to the music I played, did you felt sad and happy? That’s because instruments creates music that brings out our emotions. Sometimes they make us happy, and sometimes sad. Though it doesn’t help our problems, they help us to ease our emotions, okay class? Because I felt happy listening to the music. Making generalizations and abstractions about the lesson Now, based on the instruments we heard today, do they sound the same? Why? Yes, Mary Jane? Very well said.
