Intervention Planning and Ethical Considerations for Managing Aggression Outburst in Pre-K Classroom Settings, Thesis of Marketing

An intervention plan for managing aggression outburst in pre-k classroom settings. The plan involves creating a questionnaire for teachers to provide feedback on their experiences with preschool-aged children, analyzing the data collected, and providing training and information on proactive and reactive behavior management strategies. The plan also includes educating parents on how to deescalate aggressive behaviors and providing a CD with information on aggression in children. The document emphasizes the importance of connecting teacher preparation and training to behavior management to alleviate teacher stress and create successful classrooms.

ECE 660 Intervention Planning and Ethical Considerations ECE 660 Action Research and Inquiry in Education Intervention Description The intervention that I will be using to address my area of focus is reviewing what is the best strategy for teachers to use when managing aggression outburst in pre-k classroom settings? According to (2008) research has found that students misbehavior affects teachers’ level of stress in the classroom, also impacting the students’ academics and learning success. Dealing with behavior management on a daily basis is the main cause of teachers leaving the profession. The first step for the intervention that will be used is to create a questionnaire for teachers to provide what behaviors they are experiencing on a daily with preschool aged children. Analyze when each teacher feels the most stressed and how they are currently managing the behavior. This will give us feedback, data to look back at and what steps need to be taken next to manage those behaviors. Once that data is collected, it will be necessary to see if teachers are using proactive or reactive strategy forms of management procedures. It will be explained through trainings the benefits of being a proactive and being a reactive teacher. When teachers use proactive strategies to manage a behavior, they are setting rules, boundaries and praising appropriate behavior. When teachers use reactive strategies to manage behaviors in the classroom they are reacting to the negative or inappropriate behavior the child is showing. Teachers will most likely react negatively when they are reactive and praise the good when they are being proactive. Teaching the different forms of reacting to a behavior is essential to teach to all teachers. This will be part of the classroom manual that will be available for all teachers at the reach of their fingertips. During the training, a CD will also be provided to the teachers and parents of the preschool aged children. This CD will include what aggression and misbehavior in the classroom looks like for preschoolers. This will give parents a look into how their child may be behaving at home or at school and what signs to look for. (2006) explains that aggression in the early years is a strong factor for violence in later years. When parents along side their teachers learn strategies to respond to aggression, it will be beneficial for all and help children be successful. Approaches to deescalate this type of behaviors that have been approved by NAEYC are redirection, setting clear rules and showing empathy. Educating parents and teachers on what to do to deescalate these aggressions, how to redirect a child and how to use empathy will be all included on the CD. This information will be in the manual for reference for all teachers and parent feedback will be conducted. It is necessary to connect the preparation of teachers in programs and adequate teacher training to manage behavior aggression and disruption in their classroom (Stevenson et al., 2020). When the dots are connected to alleviate teacher’s stress, offer programs for better training in behavior management, we can create strong and prepared teachers for the benefit and success of each child in their classroom. Intervention Plan/Ethical considerations The goal would be within the first couple of months of signs of aggression as it is unpredictable when a child will be able to regulate their emotions and not show outburst. This will give us enough time to gather data on the child and teacher, send out the questionnaire to teachers and parents, and provide training and information on aggression in children for behavior management in the classroom. The intervention plan will be in full effect once we explain to the parents the benefit of the intervention and if they agree. During the first signs of aggression, the teacher will be given a questionnaire on levels of stress and what type of behaviors are being manifested in the classroom. Once that is evaluated and data is collected within a couple weeks, parents will be given the paperwork needed to acquire full consent to go through the
