Lori Garlington EDTC 100 L Philosophy of Education October 30, 2007 Life-long learning is where someone learns up-to-date information throughout their life, not only in a school atmosphere, but in everyday life. Life-long learning is important to teaching because as time changes, facts change. As new technology progresses, there is more information to learn. One would have to learn this information to teach it. I plan on learning throughout life to help fulfill my life and also so I am current on information. A teacher should commit to their students to have their best interest in mind and to teach them to the best of their ability. A teacher should also be watchful of the student’s behavior to make sure their attitude doesn’t change in a negative way to detect problems at home. Teachers are also mentors so they need to set good examples for their students. A reflective practitioner is one who uses their experiences in life to deal with situations. It is important how to teach a student and think how they would have learned it easier. You have to imagine yourself in the situation and make certain that your explanation is clear. You also use reflective practices when it comes to attitudes. You have to think back when you were they age to understand what the student is going through. I believe that technology should play a major role in education because as time changes, we use technology more and more. Also technology helps the student and teacher be more hands on. With parental consent and teacher supervision, technology is more helpful than harmful in the classroom. Technology helps the teacher be more visual which also helps the student learn more efficiently. Students learn better when they are actually involved and interested. Technology gets the students involved more because they are dealing with the situation rather than just listening to the teacher talk. ed.docx
