CONCEPT Progressive verb tense, also known as continuous tenses, are known for expressing on-going actions. They contain helping verbs and action verbs ending in -ing. Present progressive tense expresses actions that are happening now or that are in progress. For example: He is waiting right now. Mark is studying medicine at Adamson University. Past progressive tense describes an action that was in progress over a period of time in the past. For example: I was taking a shower when a delivery man arrived. Future progressive tense expresses actions that will last for a set time at a specific moment in the future. For example: Johnny will be joining a contest in January. III.
