I get those moments where I have to rethink about my past and current leadership opportunities that I’ve had and see if I could count them as being leadership. At the time being, I didn’t even know what leadership was. I remember seeing this statement “The numerous definitions and ideas about leadership that are available in many books can sometimes be confusing.” (Robert 7). There were many definitions of leadership that I was confused about and considered if I was even one myself. In an outside article I read it had the definition that “Leadership captures the essentials of being able and prepared to inspire others.” (Ward). That’s where I realized I was wrong, because the moments we have as leaders that we look at as “failing” are the moments that help shape us into better leaders. My definition of leadership is someone who is okay with not being correct all the time, and an individual or group that takes the downfalls and creates them into something positive. The way I developed leadership has progressed over the years of High School and transitioning into College, for starters I joined a lot of Academic and Volunteer Organizations while being a freshman in High School and my first task was learning balance and patience. At a young age I was learning how to create a way to balance the clubs that I did join and to make an effort into attending meetings and with conversations that were held, when things escalated I joined the club leadership where I had more of an important role. For example, I was in the Autism Youth Ambassadors Club and I joined leadership, my role was being the Publicist and I was in charge of being at the events and managing Social Media accounts. As I graduated and went to a Community College in Cypress, I ended up running for Student Government. I knew that by joining these organizations it would be 5 the school. The next day I toured the school and got a Full Ride and was accepted. I believe that’s why Leadership is important to me because with all the downfalls that do come with it, shape the person into who they are meant to become. 6 References Komives, R.
