Further, interdisciplinary collaborations enable the capitalization on specific issues or challenges to create opportunities that benefit as many people as possible (Hall et al., 2018). The increasing demand for inter-disciplinary collaboration in social work has compelled the profession to delve into research and capitalize on the use of Evidence-Based Practice to solve modern challenges within the social work profession (NASW, 2018). As a professional social worker specializing in child welfare, I am obligated to establish an Interdisciplinary team to collaborate with and make use of Evidence-Based Practice to solve the challenge of racial discrimination and marginalization of minority races within child welfare. This paper, therefore, presents a reflection of how to achieve the stated objective. Discussion My topic of choice is "Using Evidence-Based Practice to solve racial discrimination and marginalization of minority races within child welfare. According to Samuels (2020), institutional racism, just like in any other niche within the United States of America, is common within the Child Welfare System. Samuel (2020) notes that about 53% of black children and children from other minority races within the child welfare system will experience neglect and abuse. Furthermore, African American and Native American children are disproportionately represented in the child welfare system. Many of these children—while under foster care—tend to be subjected to placement disruptions and permanency, unlike their white counterparts. Also, most black kids and kids from minority races tend to come from poor homes, and while in foster 5 include transforming the system into an equitable organization that ensures the safety of all children and differential responses to reduce disproportionality and disparity. The author discovers that the Child Welfare System subscribes to the demands of institutional racism, and as such, racism has become a prevalent vice within the child welfare system, a factor that ends up negatively affecting black children. The author suggests the implementation of policies that support and strengthen the black community and children within the welfare system. EPB Discussion 6 The selected article for EPB implementation is James-Brown's "Transforming Child Welfare through Anti-Racist Approaches." The Evidence-Based Practice solution in this article is founded on the acknowledgment that racism against black, brown, and indigenous children is a rampant vice within the Child Welfare System. The first evidence-based solution provided is the transformation of the child-welfare system into an equitable organization that supports and provides safety to all children. This will require the organization to be transformed through the elimination of institutional racism—a cultural thing in the USA. The new Child Welfare Service should wear anti-bias lenses and operate on empathy and understanding, acknowledging all families and the impacts caused by discriminating against families from the minority race. My selected inter-disciplinary organizations may highly be involved in implementing the above EPB. The Child Welfare League of America may be at the top of the board to bring this solution to fruition. As a leader in prioritizing child welfare, this body may be responsible for acknowledging the impact that racism has on children within the welfare system and establishing anti-racist principles that the new or transformed child welfare system should operate with. The Child Welfare League of America also has the responsibility of ensuring that every system is in agreement and committed to change, a failure to which they will be compelled to face justice. The Child Welfare League of America should also collaborate with Child Welfare Service to ensure proper investment inequitable resources like care, education, health, and housing. Prevent Child Abuse America and Child Advocacy are vital organizations in ensuring that the new and transformed Child Welfare Services create a safe haven for all children in foster care. Child Advocacy could be responsible for initiating policies that ensure the employment of diverse populations to serve in the Child Welfare Service. This move is to ensure that cultural competence is achieved within foster care and with cultural competence. Cultural competence 7 ensures that all cultures within the system are attended to without discrimination (Davidson, 2019). The responsibility of Prevent Child Abuse America is to ensure that possibilities of neglect and abuse within the new child welfare service are prevented before they happen. As a social worker, my responsibility is to collaborate with the above organizations to ensure a smooth transition of the child welfare service while pushing for and advocating for changes that will ensure the establishment of a safer place for minority-race children. The NASW (2021) provides guidelines for professional conduct; hence, it is my responsibility to adhere to these guidelines to ensure a successful collaborative outcome. As an individual that has brought this team together, it is also my responsibility to be part of every major decision made in regard to the elimination of racial bias within the system. Adherence to inter-disciplinary professional responsibilities will ultimately lead to the achievement of this goal. Conclusion This paper examines the EBP in social work inter-disciplinary practices. As discussed, EBP is vital in social work as it helps to develop solutions that are statistically proven to be effective. An interdisciplinary approach to the use of EBP in social work helps to make implementations based on solid and well-thought decisions. In my case, my objective is to use EBP to solve the challenge of racial discrimination within the child welfare system. The selected organizations that are part of my interdisciplinary team are directly involved with the Child Welfare Services; hence, they guarantee a successful outcome.
