She takes some and uses it on Heracles years later not knowing it was mixed with deadly venom and it kills him= Nessus's revenge TERM 3 Io DEFINITION 3 Jove/Zeus falls in love w.her and Juno/Hera (his wife) finds out. He turns her into a cow to hide her and it doesn't work at all. Juno asks for the cow, and he has no choice but to give it to her. Jove then sends her to prison guarded by ARGUS (100 eyed monster that doesnt sleep) Jove gets Mercury to save her(((NOTE: this is a whole other story: the story of Pan and Syrinx!!!)))), but she has to roam as a cow until Jove promises to be faithful. When he does, Io is turned back and goes to EGYPT. TERM 4 Inachus DEFINITION 4 *Io's father* -He is so distraught about his daughters fate, he wishes he would die so he wouldnt have to live forever in grief TERM 5 Argus DEFINITION 5 100 eyed monster that guards Io while she is in prison and doesnt sleep..killed by Mercury ((note, he is important to the story of PAN and SYRINX)) TERM 6 Callisto DEFINITION 6 *Nymph of Diana/Artemis aka: virgin* Dismissed from Diana's company bc she gets pregnant (from Zeus taking the form of Diana, sneaking into her bed and taking advantage of her) *Gets turned into a bear by Juno/Hera bc she gets JEALOUS. -She has human feelings; almost gets killed by her son but Jove sweeps doent and turns them into stars= Big/Little Dipper!! TERM 7 the story of Pan and Syrinx DEFINITION 7 **story of preservation of chastity** ((This story is told to Argus by Mercury who was send by Zeus to save Io in attempt to make him fall asleep)) Pan wants Syrinx; Syrinx runs from him!!!! (like crazy) She asks the Gods to help, they turn her into a bunch of plants. Pan STILL loves and wants her so he bundles up the reeds that she turned into and makes the Pan Pipes!!! (musical instrument) *this tells the opposite story of Io* TERM 8 Ganymede DEFINITION 8 handsome young man that Zeus likes..so, he swoops doen and brings him to lvie w.the Gods and becomes the cup- bearer for the gods (Budweiser story) TERM 9 Daphne DEFINITION 9 Apollo makes fun of Cupid/Aros so he punishes Apollo by... shooting him with the gold (love) arrow and DAPHNE with the led (repulsed) arrow, ultimately causing Apollo to chase after her like crazy. Daphne asks the gods for help and then turn her into a tree...Apollo is still in love with the tree (oral tree) TERM 10 Hyacinth DEFINITION 10 man Apollo falls in love with -dies by a disk thrown by apollo that accidentally hits him -he is turned into a flower
