TERM 7 bipolar disorder (manic depression) DEFINITION 7 alternating betweenthe hopelessness and lethargy of depression and the overexcited state of mania; really excited then really depressed; li used as treatment, take at TOP, or else you will hit rock bottom SYMPTOMS: over talkative, overactive, elated, little need for sleep, less sexual inhibitions; loud, flighty, hard to interrupt speech, grandoise optimism and self esteem TERM 8 delusions DEFINITION 8 a thought or belief that has no basis in reality ex: think fbi is following you, they are really not TERM 9 hallucinations DEFINITION 9 feel, see, hear something that isnt there; sensory experience actually increased by the mind ex: a beautiful mind TERM 10 schizophrenia DEFINITION 10 disorganized and delusional thinking, disturbed perceptions, and inppropriate emotions and actions SYMPTOMS: positive (presence of inappropriate behaviors)- hallucinations, talk in disorganized and deluded ways, inappropriate laughter, tears, or rage negative (the absence of appropriate behaviors)- toneless voices, expressionless faces, mute and rigid bodies
