This activity is designed to help participants understand the housing market and to offer a very basic and informative suggestion in their house hunting journey. There are four steps to conduct the activity. Step One: Warm up / ice-breaker: Brainstorm (See activity 1) Step Two: Find Your Dream House (See activity 2) Step Three: Discuss with your group members and decide on which one you would like to put an offer and explain why. (See activity 3) Step Four: Discussion on Pros and Cons. Let’s see which group has made the best decision on buying a house. Activity 1: Brainstorm – My dream house 1. What kind of house are you looking for? Big or small? 2. How big a house do you want? 100 or 200 sm*? 3. What kind of features do you want to have? Fireplace, balcony, swimming pool or a play house? 4. What location would you like to choose? In the city or outside the city? 5. If it is in the city, do you want to live in the downtown or in the Richmond area? 6. What kind of styles would you like to have? A bungalow, a two- storey house, a bi-level, or a condo? 7. How much are you willing to pay for the down payment? 30% down payment in cash or the total amount? 8. Do you want to have a two-car garage or a three-car garage? Or no garage. 9. Your own questions. Activity 2: Which one is my dream house? 1. Select three houses that you would like to buy and do the comparison. Work together with your group and choose the right house from the advertisement.
