Download Food, Culture, and Health: Group Project and Writing Task | GEOG 8 and more Papers Geography in PDF only on Docsity! Food, Culture, and Health Group Project and Writing Task Part I. The group task Your group task, to work on in class, will be to discuss the readings from last week and this week and, based on that discussion, brainstorm ideas for an analytical essay. A thorough analysis will include the following: • Identify the issue or issues you will examine in your essay. • Briefly summarize the opinions of one or more writers whose ideas we have discussed in class, based on assigned readings. • Develop your own opinion on the issue, answering the questions you have raised and possibly raising new questions for future analysis. After generating ideas for your essay, you will have time in class to jot down your ideas in paragraph form. Part II. The writing homework The paragraph(s) you write in class will become the beginning of a draft that you need to type up and bring to your first meeting with your tutor, James. Double-space so that you will have plenty of room on the page for revisions that you will make during your tutorial. Before you meet James, write down two or three questions that you would like to ask him about this writing. After you meet with James, make improvements to your draft and put it in the form of a formal, typed paper, two and one-half to three typed, double-spaced pages. Turn it in no later than 8:00 pm, Monday, October 6, 2008, by e-mailing it to rightmire@linguistics.ucsb.edu.
