I highly recommend reading/studying both the lecture notes and the chapter reading from the text in addition to completing the practice questions at the back of each chapter. Specifically the test will consist of:  Labeling / multiple choice (#’s 1-17) o Heart diagram o Respiratory system diagram o Digestive system diagram o Excretory system diagram  Matching o Blood components (#’s 18-22) o Respiration (#’s 23-27) o Gastrointestinal tract (#’s 28-32) o Nephron (#’s 33-37)  Short answer/choose the word/phrase that best completes the sentence (#’s 38-65)  Short Essay: The following are a list of sample short essay questions that could appear on the test. o List and explain 3 lines of defense for/from the body with respect to immunity. o Compare/contrast “antibody mediated response” with “cell mediated response”. o Explain 2 types of digestion, incorporating the major anatomy involved as food enters, passes through, and exits the body. o Compare and contrast the female and male reproductive systems with regard to the hormones released and the glands that cause their release. o If a child is born with the pulmonary artery and the aorta arising from the wrong ventricles, briefly describe what complication to the circulatory system this condition may create. o Explain how both an action potential and resting potential function incorporating the terms repolarization, threshold, and ion concentration. o Explain how the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system function, how they are related, and the anatomy involved with each particular system. o Explain in detail how the human eye perceives an image (how we see), detail both the anatomy and physiology involved with the process. o Give an example of a hormone mimic, explain how hormone mimics work, and discuss the environmental effects they could have. o Explain how pheromones work and how they can be employed for insect management.
