TERM 9 Appalachian Mountains DEFINITION 9 A mountain range located in the Eastern part of the United States that extends from southern Canada to central Alabama. This mountain range was one of the first obstacles that early settlers faced as they attempted to move west. TERM 10 Rocky Mountains DEFINITION 10 A mountain range that covers most of the western United States. At over 3,000 miles in length, it is the largest mountain range in North America.
