UGE 1 (4782) “GLOBAL WARMING” Over a long period of time, it has been observed that our temperature is slowly increasing. This affected wildlife, animals, every living organism on earth, and humans. No one can be blamed for Global Warming except us humans. So, in essence, global warming is the recorded increase in Earth's surface and ocean temperatures predominantly due to the added release of heat-trapping greenhouse gases. It is caused by increased emissions of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane, primarily due to human activities such as: excessive burning of fossil fuels, deforestation, industrialization and through other activities. Burning of fossil fuels like coal, oil, and natural gas releases greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide, methane, and oxides of nitrogen into the Earth’s atmosphere. These greenhouse gases act like a big blanket, trapping heat from the sun and causing global temperatures to rise. This, in turn, accelerates the melting of glaciers and ice caps around the world that also caused to rise the sea level. There are towns and villages that dependent on melting water from snowy mountains may suffer or experienced drought and scarcity of water supply. Rising of sea levels is the deadliest effect of global warming. Glaciers have been melting, and many countries have started flooding and erosion and all this is because of global warming. Additionally, Fossil fuels are a type of gas that dominate the energy sources. Through burning of fossil fuels is our way to generate energy. We use this energy in our daily lives, we use this energy to generate electricity and to generate power for our transportation like cars, motorcycles, planes, and other industrial processes. Burning of fossil fuels is essential in our world today it can generate energy to make our vehicle to start for us to do some errands. Additionally, it has the ability to produce electricity, which allows our homes to be lit at night and prevents food from being rotten every day due to lack of electricity. However, despite of this advantages, burning of fossil fuels can caused our temperature to rise that can harm us. Next, Deforestation represents the largest issue or the largest threat in global land use. Deforestation is the conversion of forest to other uses such as farming land, formally defined, for example, as a reduction of 50% of the tree-cover (Hansen et al., 2013). As an illustration , Agriculture expansion is the most important direct driver of deforestation in practically all tropical regions and includes shifting cultivation, permanent agriculture, pasture creation, and resettlement programs, following converting the forest to other land uses. "Deforestation" is an ambiguous phrase that incorporates a range of procedures and outcomes. It is also a process that has been and is still perceived as both beneficial and harmful. Although, Increasing the amount of land that can be used for agriculture is the only way, in order for us to get freshwater supplies that can sustain this level of human population density must be available to us. However, it should never be the first choice to cut a tree. The benefit is that it provides us the materials that we need, and it provides us with the area we require to produce the food that will sustain us going forward. Many of the negative effects of this practice can be mitigated if we plant additional or more trees to make up for the ones that we cut down to make room for our resources. Furthermore, Deforestation creates an income-earing opportunities to others businessman and businesswoman. There are so many materials harvested from the forests that earn an income for the workers and many countries are involved with this. Logging gives us access to build numerous buildings and houses. In other countries, deforestation becomes an economically profitable venture when it is appropriately managed. We must sacrifice a lot if we reverse our emphasis on deforestation. There are certain drawbacks in addition to the benefits. Forests assist to lessen the greenhouse impact by removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Trees and forests absorb and storage large amounts of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere through photosynthesis. When forests are cut down, their capacity to absorb and sequester carbon dioxide is reduced. This allows more carbon dioxide to accumulate in the atmosphere, increasing the greenhouse gas effect leading to global warming. Deforestation and the decomposition of trees and other biomass are responsible for 17% of the carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Due to the lack of roots to hold the soil in place, topsoil erosion increases with deforestation, and landslides that occur in different locations will result from the ground being held loose. Deforestation can cause flashfloods, landslides, and water pollution. Afterwards, many industrial practices like manufacturing, transportation, and energy production emit significant amounts of greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and methane. Manufacturing and industry produce emissions, primarily from burning fossil fuels to produce energy for making things like cement, iron, steel, electronics, plastic bottles, clothes, and other goods. The building sector releases gasses, as do mining and other industrial processes. Globally, one of the biggest sectors contributing to greenhouse gas emissions is the industrial sector. Lastly, Fossil fuels power the majority of automobiles, trucks, ships, and aircraft. Consequently, transportation has a significant role in the release of greenhouse gases, particularly carbon dioxide. Due to internal combustion engines' consumption of petroleum- based products like gasoline, road vehicles make up the majority. In recent years, there has been an increase in energy-related carbon dioxide emissions from buildings due to growing air conditioning ownership, growing energy demand for heating and cooling because of the high temperature, and increased electrical usage for lighting, appliances, and connected devices. In conclusion, the problem of burning of fossil fuel can be solved by making an alternative way to generate power, electricity, and energy. First, other machineries that use fossil fuels can be replaced by solar energy. Solar energy is a powerful energy source, because of the radiant of the sun it can produce energy that can be used to heat, cool, light homes and effort on preventing more greenhouse gasses. Trees provides irreplaceable habitats and shelter for animals. Trees generously provides resources critical for human too – cleaning air and water, and trees can stabilize topsoil to prevent landslides, controlling floods and providing cooling shelter and wildlife corridors. Additionally, the youth for environment in school organization (yes-o) supports school- based initiatives like planting trees, so kids need to understand how to take care of the environment while they're in school so they can take action or know what to do to restore the forest. Today's world is experiencing a lot of natural calamities. One example of how there aren't enough trees to support or anchor the soil is the unexpected disaster that occurred on February 6, 2024, which resulted in landslides and affected everyone living in that area. However, someone else claimed that the mine was to blame for the landslide, even though the picture shows very few trees in the upper part of the scene. The ground is held in place by the roots of the tree, which plays an important role in preventing the soil from collapsing. Furthermore, there have been severe floods in the surrounding areas. In Carmen, Davao del Norte, for instance, there was flooding that persisted for a week and made it impossible for people to travel. Since the water reached the road, people were left stranded, and some students were unable to go to school because they had no other option. So, in Carmen is known for its wide rice fields, so they clear land, to create space for our agricultural crops, trees are frequently chopped down. Our Farmers can cultivate crops or raise animal feed on land they previously occupied by removing trees. We all know that crops need sunlight access, clearing trees can help crops receive more sunshine. For the highest output, certain agricultural practices require the largest amount of solar exposure. Food production requires greater area as the human population rises. Clearing trees makes way for the creation of pastures or agricultural areas on newly acquired land. Uncontrolled and excessive tree cutting, however, can result in environmental problem like massive flooding. Therefore, sustainable management is essential. Nevertheless, cutting trees isn't the only issue; inadequate drainage is one of its causes as well. Therefore, in order to avoid problems during severe flooding, we need to practice cleaning or clearing our drainage. Inadequate drainage systems and impermeable surfaces are also to blame for the brief water buildup. Certain youths can be urged to clear the drainage or to request help from the local authority in establishing an appropriate drainage system or to expand our drainage system. It is imperative that we act before a flood occurs since it can have costly and long-lasting effects. To sum up, after reading the article, I was struck by the thought, "Your generation fails to take proper care of this planet”, which made me understand that each of us is directly accountable for the global warming that is happening. As a result of global warming, we endure heat that feels like it will burn our flesh. We still have the knowledge essential to act and solve this particular problem. We cannot let our children and grandchildren inherit this kind of problem. To let others realize that we also need to be worried about global warming, I find myself willing to increase awareness of the effects. The heat and the changing weather are frequent causes of complaints, but individuals often fail to consider their actions, which is what led us to the current situation. Global warming has presented us with numerous obstacles; now is the time to find a solution to prevent this issue and move on. As they say, progress is progress no matter how slow. The time for change is now. Therefore, what will you do? Have you got any solutions?
