Water Jet Group Project: Creating an Attractive Visualization of a Water Jet, Assignments of Mechanical Engineering

This document details a group project where students created a visually appealing image of a water jet using a digital camera and various photographic techniques. The project involved setting up an apparatus to direct the water jet upward and capturing multiple exposures with different lighting conditions. The final image was edited to enhance contrast, focus, and sharpness, and was found to be both scientifically interesting and visually appealing.

Low pressure water jets were first used for mining gold in California in 1852. Since then water jets have been used for cleaning, and recently, high powered steam water jets have been used for cutting metal1. A water jet can be a number of things, however, for this project; it is simply a jet of water under pressure2. 1 How Stuff Works, Inc.
