Quality Improvement Through Effective Teamwork HCA450 Quality Improvement Through Effective Teamwork As a health care provider for the longest time I use to like working alone. It was always convened to work alone because I would only follow my ideas and would not spend much time on different prospective and approaches. For a very long time I was a solo performer, even when I had someone to help me, I would continue doing everything myself. As I grew in this filed, I realized this was not an option any longer. Health care filed is one the field of work where teamwork is mandatory to keep the department strong and going. Working together as a team promotes better quality care for patients. When teamwork gets done correctly, they promote better resources that will adds up and make better and safer quality care. There is three important aspects when working together as a team. “Teamwork became an important health intervention for a number of reasons. First, clinical care is becoming more complex and specialized, forcing medical staffs to attempt complicated health services and quickly learn new methods. Aging populations, the increase of chronic diseases like diabetes, cancer, and heart disease have forced medical staffs to take a multidisciplinary approach to health care. In countries like the United States, medical teams must manage patients suffering from multiple health problems. (Global Health Research, 2020)” Teamwork will ensure that procedures are done as best as possible and will build trust amongst the team. As health care get more complex with time it is becoming harder to do procedures on your own. Some people go into procedures with multiple health issues that require multiple specialists to work together. The life of these patients depends on the teamwork. “Secondly, researchers have found that working together reduces the number of medical errors and increases patient safety. Teamwork also reduces issues that lead to burnout. No longer is one person responsible for the patient’s health; today, an entire team of health Quality Improvement Through Effective Teamwork workers comes together to coordinate a patient’s well-being. Health teams help break down hierarchy and centralized power of health organizations, giving more leverage to health workers. (Global Health Research, 2020)”. When individuals work together as a team, they all have specific taskes there is less room for medical errors. When we have different level of providers its no longer one person’s job to make sure everything is correct, and they don’t feel as much pressured doing patient care. “Third, because teamwork is centered on solid communication, patients and their families sometimes feel more at ease and report they accept treatments and feel more satisfied with their health care. Health workers are also found to be more satisfied with their work. A study found nurses who go through successful team building efforts are more satisfied with their work (Global Health Research, 2020)”. All the health care facilities that do not have great time work should make the switch to better teamwork that would benefit their work quality. High quality team workers have great communications among each other. They are all aware of each other’s job descriptions and their rolls in this team. When there is high quality teamwork members have very close relationship with each other and they feel comfortable with each other to approach each other when its needed. Everyone is high quality team has a roll and they understand their responsibilities and duets. Everyone understands their importance in the team and how their work benefits the team. Everyone respects and trust each other and that promotes high quality care. Finally, all the high- quality team facilities have a leader that goes over everything makes sures that team met all the deadlines covers all the rules and regulations and most importantly that team is doing outstanding patient care. The main point of working as a team with each other is to make sure that everyone in the group knows where they stand and how they come together to create quality care. A lot of times
