Action - \The client is actively taking steps to change but has not yet reached a stable state. Maintenance - \he client has achieved initial goals such as abstinence and is not working to maintain goals. Recurrence - \The client has experienced a recurrence of symptoms and must now cope with consequences and decide what to do next. Motivational strategist for the stage of Pre-contemplation - \Establish rapport, ask for permission and build trust. raise doubts or concerns in the client about use and patterns. Explore what events brought the client to you. Elicit perceptions of the problem. Offer information on risk about use. Help S/O intervene.
