INTRUSIVE IGNEOUS ROCKS: →These rocks form when magma solidifies beneath the Earth's surface. The cooling process is slow, allowing for the formation of large crystals. Examples include granite and diorite. FORMATION EXTRUSIVE IGNEOUS ROCKS: → These rocks form when lava solidifies on the Earth's surface. The cooling process is rapid, resulting in the formation of small crystals or a glassy texture. Examples include basalt and pumice. - EXAMPLE . at Extrusive igneous rocks cool quickly andasa result these rocks are — fine grained or has lack of crystal growth. Intrusive igneous rocks are (eee formed from magma that cools slowly and as a result these rocks are coarse grained. ee UEC) Gabbro Re wr COMPOSITION » 2 once 1 ‘ > 4 > TEXTURE , TEXTURE - PHANERITIC Refers to the texture of an igneous rock with crystals that are visible to the naked eye. The crystals are typically of equal size or have a relatively uniform distribution. Examples include granite and gabbro. TEXTURE APHANITIC Describes the texture of an igneous rock with crystals that are too small to be seen without magnification. Aphanitic rocks often have a smooth or glassy appearance. Examples include basalt and andesite. TEXTURE PYROCLASTIC: Refers to igneous rocks that are formed from the consolidation of fragmented volcanic material, such as volcanic ash, pumice, and volcanic bombs. These rocks are typically composed of volcanic fragments of various sizes and can have a range of textures. TEXTURE PEGMATITIC: Describes the texture of an igneous rock that is characterized by exceptionally large crystals or mineral grains. Pegmatitic rocks often form in the late stages of magma cooling and are associated with the presence of water-rich fluids. Examples include pegmatite and graphic granite. oer? eorrs é 47—™\\ ( ‘4 “~),! vata 4% 4 Vwi-87, ates =se —— VOT Mer) ’ \s NAO O0 ™@=a7 6 > g QUESTIONS %e ' © © questions * SB Se * &, Yes, Ya, QUESTIONS 1-2.
