PhEd 133 Personal, Community and Environmental Health Evaluation Exam for Module 1 and 2 Supposing you are a Grade 8 Physical Education teacher. You will formulate a lesson plan that deals on the wellness continuum and mental health. The aim is to orient the learners of promoting holistic health and set an equilibrium on health. LESSON PLAN I. OBJECTIVES At the end of the lesson the learners should be able to: 1. Identify the different characteristics of a mentally and emotionally healthy individual. 2. Demonstrates understanding of mental and emotional health as a component of holistic health. 3. Appreciate and relate the importance of being mentally and emotionally healthy. II. PROCEDURES a. Drill/Elicit drill or review the past The teacher will ask the students the following questions: When can you say that you are healthy? How will you keep yourself healthy? Then a review on a Physical health will follow. b. Engage motivation The question “Are you healthy?” will be posted to serve as guide for the students then; The teacher will show pictures of different people. They will be given five (5) seconds to observe each picture, then the students will try to identify if the person in each picture is healthy or not. c. Explore activity The teacher will provide the class with four (4) different set of activity. The students are free to choose the activity number of their choice. After everyone have chosen the teacher will then present rubrics to be used to rate their outputs. Activity 1: Identify the characteristics of a mentally and emotionally healthy individual. (an explanation should be provided for each given characteristic. Activity 2: Write an essay on the importance of being mentally and emotionally healthy. Activity 3: Determine the factors that factors that affect the promotion of good mental and emotional health. Activity 4: Research on five known personalities that are known to be mentally and emotionally healthy and share your opinion on why do you think they are considered to be as such. Discussion on The Mental and Emotional Health > Characteristics of a mental and emotionally healthy individual. > Factors that affect the promotion of good mental and emotional health. d. Explain generalization, clarification, analysis of student’s activity Processing of the outputs of the students. Points will be given after the presentation of each output. Then an additional discussion on: The types, signs, symptoms, prevention, and professional care in managing common mental disorders. Afterwards the students will be asked to answer the following questions? What are the characteristics of a mentally and emotionally healthy individual? What are the factors that affect the promotion of good mental and emotional health? What is the difference between emotional health and mental health? How can we become mentally and emotionally healthy individual? e. Elaborate enrichment/ application of the past The students will relate or cite a situation wherein they have shown and acted as a mentally and emotionally healthy individual. f.
