UNIVERSITY OF LJUBLJANA FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES Second-cycle study programme Physiotherapy 2020/2021 1 INFORMATION PUBLICATION SECOND-CYCLE MASTER'S STUDY PROGRAMME PHYSIOTHERAPY applies for students enrolled in the 2020/2021 academic year 1. Information about the study programme Second-cycle study programme Physiotherapy lasts 2 years (4 semesters) and comprises a total of 120 credit points. The study programme does not include study orientations and modules. After completing the programme, the graduate is awarded the professional title magister fizioterapije, or magistrica fizioterapije, abbreviation mag. fiziot. ISCED: Health care (72) SOK: SOK level 8 KLASIUS-P: Physiotherapy and medical massage (7261) EOK: EOK level 7 KLASIUS-P-16: Therapy and rehabilitation (0915) EOVK: Second-cycle FRASCATI: Medical sciences (3) 2. Basic programme goals and general competences acquired with the programme The goal of the study programme is to train graduates for targeted professional, organizational and scientific problem solving in the field of physiotherapy as well as meet the need for highly qualified physiotherapists who will be able to perform the most demanding tasks in planning, organizing, managing, implementing and supervising the physiotherapy process at all levels of health care, get involved in health and interdisciplinary teams that will be able to carry out health promotion and health education and engage in pedagogical activity and research. The study programme follows the development of adopted physiotherapy practice and contributes to the development and quality of the Slovenian health care system. It is built on the already acquired interdisciplinary foundations of the first-cycle study and is set so as to enable the acquisition of in- depth knowledge in individual specific-professional fields. Students will acquire the following general competencies: - in-depth theoretical knowledge in developing, maintaining and restoring movement and functional abilities of healthy people and those with limited or impaired movement and / or functional ability due to illness or injury, at every stage of their life; - ability to use in-depth theoretical knowledge in developing, maintaining and restoring movement and functional abilities of healthy people of all ages, in order to maintain and strengthen health and prevent the occurrence of illnesses and injuries; - development of critical and self-critical assessment for planning, implementation and evaluation of the physiotherapeutic process; - ability to link scientific evidence with the opinions of clinical experts and - translate evidence-based physiotherapy doctrine into decisions in practice; UNIVERSITY OF LJUBLJANA FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES Second-cycle study programme Physiotherapy 2020/2021 2 - ability to critically evaluate the professional field of physiotherapy and improve existing practice based on research findings; - autonomy in professional work and decision-making; - ability to analyse professional problems and synthesize appropriate solutions; - master research methods, procedures and processes for scientific research work in their area of expertise and develop critical and self-critical assessment in the interpretation of research results; - cooperation, group work in the domestic and international environment in the planning, management and implementation of interdisciplinary projects; - ability to communicate, orally and in writing, with colleagues and experts from other disciplines; - ability to learn independently, lifelong, in the area of expertise; responsibility for own learning and awareness of the importance of lifelong learning; - ethical reflection and commitment to professional ethics in physiotherapy; respect cultural and custom diversity. 3. Conditions for the enrolment and selection criteria in the case of restricted enrolment Candidates who have completed the following may enrol in the second-cycle study programme Physiotherapy: a) professional higher education study programme Physiotherapy according to the "non-Bologna" programme b) professional higher education study programme Physiotherapy of the first (Bologna) cycle and at least 180 credit points c) study programme in the professional fields of medicine or dental medicine, enrolled before 2009, if before the enrolment the candidate completes study obligations from the first-cycle professional higher education study programme Physiotherapy, in the scope of 60 credit points, that are essential for further studies: Seq. no. Subject ECTS 1 Evaluation methods in physiotherapy 10 2 Instrumental physiotherapy 8 3 Kinesiotherapy 14 4 Manual therapy 11 5 Neurophysiotherapy 14 6 Women's health physiotherapy 3 d) anyone who has completed equivalent physiotherapy education abroad. The Commission for Academic Affairs for Postgraduate Studies at the Faculty of Health Sciences is to decide on the recognition of the equivalence of education before the enrolment. When applying, all candidates must demonstrate knowledge of the Slovenian language at the B2 level, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), with the appropriate certificate. Relevant proof of compliance with this enrolment condition shall be: - a certificate of completion of the Slovenian language exam at B2 level or an equivalent certificate, - a certificate of primary school completion in the Republic of Slovenia or completion of school abroad that features the Slovenian language, UNIVERSITY OF LJUBLJANA FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES Second-cycle study programme Physiotherapy 2020/2021 5 candidate has completed all obligations for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th year of his/her study programme and if at least half of the obligations completed within his/her study programme may be recognized. c) all master's study programmes in the field of physiotherapy conducted in EU countries. In the transfer, all obligations that the student has completed in the previous programme and which can be recognized are to be taken into account. On this basis, it is to be determined to which year the student may be transferred. Candidates' requests for a transfer to the second-cycle study programme Physiotherapy and the scope of recognized study obligations in the study programme are individually considered by the Commission for Study Affairs for Postgraduate Studies at the Faculty of Health Sciences in line with Articles 181 to 189 of the Statute of the University of Ljubljana, which determines the obligations that are to be completed before the enrolment and the completion of studies for each candidate. In transferring between study programmes, the following criteria are taken into account: - fulfilment of conditions for the enrolment in the new study programme, - the number of places available, - years or semesters in the previous study programme in which the student has completed all study obligations and which can be fully recognized. If the student has not completed the first-cycle professional higher education study programme Physiotherapy before the enrolment in the 2nd year of the master's study programme Physiotherapy, he/she is to complete the following study obligations from the first-cycle professional higher education study programme Physiotherapy, in the scope of 60 credit points, that are essential for continuation of studies: Seq. no. Subject ECTS 1 Evaluation methods in physiotherapy 10 2 Instrumental physiotherapy 8 3 Kinesiotherapy 14 4 Manual therapy 11 5 Neurophysiotherapy 14 6 Women's health physiotherapy 3 If at least half of the obligations completed in the first study programme are recognised, the candidate is to be allowed to enrol in the second year of the second-cycle study programme Physiotherapy. 8. Methods of assessment Within the study process, students are to fulfil current obligations in individual subjects, such as assignments, seminars, reports, etc., through which their work is evaluated from various aspects on an ongoing basis. Students' learning outcome is evaluated and assessed by individual subjects, namely the learning process in an individual subject is concluded with the examination of theoretical and / or practical knowledge. Forms of learning outcome assessment are defined in syllabuses; they encompass: oral or written exams, colloquia, seminar papers, project assignments. The general rules of learning outcome assessment are regulated by the Rules on knowledge assessment of the Faculty of Health Sciences. UNIVERSITY OF LJUBLJANA FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES Second-cycle study programme Physiotherapy 2020/2021 6 The grade chart is used to assess knowledge in accordance with the Statutes of the University of Ljubljana. 10 - Exceptional knowledge without or with negligible faults 9 - Very good knowledge with some minor faults 8 - Good knowledge with certain faults 7 - Solid knowledge but with several faults 6 - Knowledge only meets minimal criteria 5 - Knowledge does not meet minimum criteria A student passes the exam if he/she is graded from 6 to 10.
