Chris Broussard Edtc 100-C 4-7-2008 Philosophy of Education Life-long learning is the act of absorbing applicable information and experience throughout an entire lifetime. Life-long learning must be applied to teaching because education changes with the world and teaching must be up to date with it. Life-long learning should be the only true option for the learner; otherwise the learner cannot progress with his or her society. For teachers, it is their obligation to practice life-long learning in order to pass down genuine wisdom and knowledge to their students. For students, life-long learning is the key to social competency. A teacher’s commitment to his or her students is monumental. In some form, the teacher is changing the student’s life. The teacher is there to mold and expand the mind of the student. The teacher is obligated to maximize the intellectual capability of the student. The relationship between a teacher and a student build on trust and support. The teacher should always be reasonably available for students and a conduct professionally at all times. A reflective practitioner is one who continuously reviews his or her performance critically. The reflective practitioner values the good aspects and strives to improve on aspects that are ineffective. A teacher who reflects on his or her teaching produces students that practice reflective learning. The outcome of the student’s performance and knowledge depends on the performance of the teacher. Technology should be intergraded into education as much as possible but within reason. The teacher must be competent in computer technology to maximize instructional proficiency, record keeping, and communication. Students should be familiar with today’s technology in order to successfully integrate into society and function in the professional world. One issue
