Jesus and His Crucifixion and Death JESUS AND THE SORROWFUL MYSTERIES A reading from the holy gospel according to St. Luke 23:32–44 Glory to you, O Lord. With Jesus were two other criminals. They were led to be put to death. When they came to the place called “The Skull”, they crucified him there, along with the criminals—one on his right, the other on his left. Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” And they divided up his clothes by casting lots. The people stood watching, and the rulers even sneered at him. They said, “He saved others; let him save himself if he is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One.” Jesus and His Crucifixion and Death JESUS AND THE SORROWFUL MYSTERIES OBJECTIVES At the end of the lesson, the learner is expected to: Doctrine – understand why the cross of Jesus is an expression of the triumph of God’s love for humanity; Morals – demonstrate the love offered and showed by Jesus by loving others; and Worship – participate in the celebration of the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist.
