However, it has taught me so much more. I can now understand the articles better. I can better analyze what I am reading and determine its significance and relevance to a certain topic. Before I decide, I now try to understand my source and how data is compiled. Especially during this time, we are bombarded by information from every platform. It can be overwhelming, however, after taking this course I now not to react to the statistics being televised without questioning where it is coming from and if it is significant. Doing proper and thorough research is important when drafting papers or even making suggestions at work. All interventions imposed by nurses are evidence-based and needs to have strong statistical support. Before implementing changes in a unit or incorporating specific interventions in a patient’s care plan, nurses are required to do their research. Not all studies are relevant to a cause and therefore nurses need to know how to determine what information is or is not relevant. Institutional Review Boards (IRB) was established to protect the rights and welfare of human research subjects recruited to participate in research activities (Oregon State University, n.a.). These regulations are important because studies can be invasive and can have long-term effects on the participants. Therefore, participants should be made aware of all aspects of the study. Providing transparency to participants is important in protecting the rights of human subjects. References
